My non captive agency is making me choose between them and another company.

I'm choosing to leave. I just think it's pretty unprofessional to give an employee that kind of ultimatum. I'm new to this industry and didn't know whether or not a non captive agency could do that.
Actually, there is nothing unprofessional about him managing his agency. in such a manner.

I'm new to both companies, been with both for about 4 weeks

My employer contract does not state anything about being affiliated with another business.

No. I don't conduct any Aflac business while at my agency's office

Check your AFLAQ agreement. Unless something has changed, their agent agreement working directly for AFLAQ was more restrictive about having other jobs or other insurance appointments with carriers

Maybe he feels like if you're working 2 at once with 4 weeks experience, you're not giving either one a fair shot. Do the 2 compete with each other?

Ownership has its privileges. Read the book who moved my cheese. Check your local library or find the you tube video.

I think you already know what your going to do.

The problem with his likely choice is the average longevity of AFLAC reps is a week or so less than he has already been there. If the independent agency offers personal lines PC, commercial PC, life.......he may regret the decision long term. Just never seen many stick with AFLAC for whatever reason. I always felt like it is a good compamy & concept, but they burn through a ton of young hires like Enterprise Rental does
