My personal experience with Aflac

Re: New York Life or AFLAC ?

Well I would listen to LGilmore. As he did, I too worked for New York Life. I learned a TON about the industry from them. The problem with them is like most companies. It is a revolving door. Yes they have a name and a reputation BUT their products are almost ALWAYS more expensive then what an independent agent could get them. MOST people are shoppers and want the lowest rate therefore NYL is NOT the go-to place for the client in that regard. The client USUALLY doesn't care if the company has been around 164 years or has insured the likes of Babe Ruth or Sam Walton (Wal-Mart). People want CHEAP things. People want a 30 year term w/ money back in the end which NYL can't do. Their best is an overpriced 20 year term w/ NO $ back after the term is up. All in all NYL was a GREAT place to learn the business BUT it too had its negatives. GOOD LUCK!

I need to learn, the more I can learn the better. Because from what I've gathered independent is the way to go. Get them to show me the ropes, and go from there. How long were you with NYL, and where did you go from there?

We must be about the same age. I used to love the Hodakas. I was a Honda man myself though. XR-75 and then the Elsies.

Re: New York Life or AFLAC ?

I have an offer from both, any opionions.

I'd like to give my opinion but I'm hungry and I'm trying to decide if I should have a Kobe beef steak or a cold fish head.

Re: Working for Aflac?

I had a Triumph 650 for a short time in '79. Flames on the gas tank and all (no baffles). Now I sell health insurance.

Good to see some fellow two wheelers on here. I'm a modern sport bike guy. I don't ride on the streets though, only the track. The streets are way too dangerous... and slow. Any of you guys still ride?

Re: Working for Aflac?

Seasoned producers love it when the HR person says they have AFLAC..... WE call it the "Duck Removal Program".....

Basically, it's pretty easy to find superior products for LESS cost..... think about it from the litigous side of an employer allowing you in.... do you think one day an employee MIGHT sue his/her employer because they let an INFERIOR product in that didn't deliver a higher benefit???? It'll happen.

Just saying......

What the?? the duck removal program!!!! LOL There is no other insurance company that offers the same products that AFLAC has.
AFLAC pays 100% of the claim to the policy holder. No other insurance company pays cash to the policy holder. And AFLAC cost the employer NOTHING!!

So how can you have a superior product for less cost?? AFLAC is very cheap about $6-$8 bucks a week. No deductables no co-pays. AFLAC policy holders keep their coverage for an average of 13 years.

Next what is this bullspit about "sue" his/her employer all about? You can not "sue" your employer over the type of insurance they offer or do not offer, where did you get that crazy idea?

Fact AFLAC is the largest provider of sec. 125 plans in the country. AFLAC is the company that spear headed that idea back in the late 70's.
So get your facts right and make sure your brian is loaded before shotting your mouth off...
