My personal experience with Aflac

Re: Working with AFLAC for now

Except for selling STM to those on COBRA...

I'm not arguing, just concerned. I called a carrier last year in my state and asked if STM counted as credible coverage and they told me yes. I would think it would be a federal mandate (covered under HIPAA) rather than a state by state basis (unless there is a state law here requiring our carriers to accept it as credible coverage). I'll have to call tommorow and double check. If it's not considered credible, that would be crucial to know.

Re: Working with AFLAC for now

I was told that both GR and Assurant's STM are creditable coverage. Still, it's dangerous to take people off Cobra. A rarely sell any STM so for me it's a non issue. The only place I can see for it is when somone has taken a position and waiting for bene's to kick in.

In some instances, some of the Blues consider their STM to be creditable coverage...when applying for Blue IFP.

Be careful.

Re: Working with AFLAC for now

GR and Assurant also claim to be creditable - however that just from them verbally. If you have evidence otherwise that would be fantastic to post. No sarcasm intended - just going on what I was told years ago.

Re: Working with AFLAC for now

When I got started, I had a side business that I worked on weekends to make ends meet. I've been "as earned" since day one without a choice to chose otherwise. If it hadn't been for that income, I don't know for certain I still would be in the business.

I'll have to do some more checking before the next STM case I right. I probably do one or two a month at most. Sometimes you don't know what you don't know!
