New Agent - How screwed am I?

Good evening:

I am a newly licensed insurance agent and like many others, did not conduct thorough research prior to choosing an IMO. I found equis financial and decided that it was not for me very early on, but not quite early enough. Here is my current situation:

The only thing that I signed was their independent contractor agreement, which has that non compete clause that I cannot find a straight answer about from searching these forums. I never contracted with any carrier through equis financial. Would I need to be released from the ICA that I signed in order to write insurance with another company? If so, has anyone went about getting released from the contract? If so, how hard was it/what were the steps to getting released? Thanks

You post at 7:59 (pacific time) and you don't even wait around for a response?

You must be "really worried" about the contracts you signed.
I am in florida (its in my profile) so what seems like 7:59 pm to you is actually 10:59 pm to me. I needed to get some sleep. Honestly, I didnt expect such quick responses, but I had every intention of checking back first thing in the morning. its 5:46am for me (not 2:46 am) as im writing this.

They can't keep you from work. They can keep you from contacting your current clients and trying to move them tho.
In other words, get contracted with other companies and go find new clients

I dont have any clients as I have never wrote any business. Am I able to write business with carriers that equis works with if im contracted with those companies through another company and not equis?

I needed to get some sleep.

Welcome to the forum. You'll be fine especially if you did not submit contracting requests to specific carriers. And even if you did, you'll not be prevented from working in your new field.

So, tell us, what made you realize you chose the wrong situation?

What exactly is it you want your insurance career to look like?

What would your typical day look like, ideally? Who are your prospects? What problem(s) are you helping them solve and what product(s) are you using to solve them?
