New Agent - How screwed am I?

@Rearden Thanks for your response. Very detailed reviews.

@DayTimer Thanks for your response. Also, thats a great question. As I said, I didnt do proper due dilligence on equis financial until AFTER I had a little sip of their kool-aid. There were several negative reviews and feedback from several sources, including here, that I took into consideration. Realizing that my commissions will be forever be capped at 80% unless I recruit and along with the hand-me-down leads, I decided that equis was not the correct IMO for me.

As far my insurance career, I am a big fan of the book entitled "the go giver", by Bob Burg and John D. Mann, so I believe, first and foremost that my job as an insurance agent is to provide as much value and solve as many problems as possible and the income will take care of itself.

My ideal day will be getting in front of as many prospects as possible with very little admin or "busy" work.

First, I'm glad you proved me wrong!

Second, that's a philosophy, not a target market or product niche.

My "monopoly guide" for new agents may help you get some additional focus in that.

But who are your prospects? What problems are you trying to help them solve? We all want to talk to as many qualified prospects each day as we can get in front of, but who do you see yourself working with? What are you talking about?

When you close your eyes and see yourself knocking on a propsect's door, who anwers? How old? What are you going to talk about? What is she wearing? (sorry about that, @goillini52 hacked into my 'puter and took control of the keyboard for a minute there).

Makes me look good, though =).

What makes you look good is that when you posted that thread about top tips for coronavirus assholes agents who wanted to continue to spread disease door knock and folks called you out on it you didn't have a sissy fit and call your posse to gang ambush those who disagreed with you.

Also, you produce some pretty good content and that makes you look good as well. I know I have benefited from your stuff over the years and continue to to this day.

Calling someone out and trolling are very different things. If I'm wrong, I'll take it. If I'm trying to be helpful and you're taking away from the conversation meant to serve, I'll call you out for being a troll. You are persistent though I'll give you that ;)

Good evening:

I am a newly licensed insurance agent and like many others, did not conduct thorough research prior to choosing an IMO. I found equis financial and decided that it was not for me very early on, but not quite early enough. Here is my current situation:

The only thing that I signed was their independent contractor agreement, which has that non compete clause that I cannot find a straight answer about from searching these forums. I never contracted with any carrier through equis financial. Would I need to be released from the ICA that I signed in order to write insurance with another company? If so, has anyone went about getting released from the contract? If so, how hard was it/what were the steps to getting released? Thanks

Tell them to kick rocks on that agreement - will never be enforced. Especially in FL, which is a "Right To Work" state . . .

If you need training, I can't help you.

If you already know how to sell - I can get you 125% contracts. 130% to 140% with proven production.
