New P&C Agents..Any Luck with a Cluster?

Look at agencyequity, com. They had a NYC, cluster ad, looking for agents. I spook with him a while back, I didn't like the split. It maybe something for you to look at.

I'm from MI and can use your help. I've been in Life for 7 years now and want to include P&C into my line of business. Am in the process of taking my P&C license course, and getting my license.

Over all goal is to open up an agency focusing on P&C and Life. P&C carrier must be competitive with Allstate, Statefarm and Citizen Insurance aka the Hanover Group.

I just got done spending a very long and analytical time going through exactly what you're doing. I talked to all the main players, and even some minor ones. The best P&C contract that I saw was with Insurance Pro Agencies; which I just signed.
I contacted several friends who owned some other good sized agencies and they told me the main thing I wanted was a clear and reasonable exit strategy for when you hit the point that your ready to fly on your own. A couple of them had very large agencies, but were still tied to the cluster many years after joining, and couldn't get away without buying another agency's book of business.

Insurance Pro Agencies does require you to have 3 years P&C experience, but you might be able to bring on a partner who has worked for another P&C agency for a while who is also looking to go out on their own. I'm not sure how big your market is, so you may want to look at nearby towns, but IMO that is how I would approach it.
