The main reason college has gotten so expensive is because of government student loans. Suddenly now everyone could afford to go, so tuition spiraled upwards. It use to be that being a college professor wasn't all that great a paying job.

Same with home prices. Once money gets cheap, prices naturally rise.

Y'all are starting to get political in here. We might be seeing Robert Barney soon. Although, I've never seen him venture to this side of the forum.

In all seriousness, what do y'all like better:
fried okra or fried green tomatoes?

I'm an okra guy.

I would get rid of your #6 and #8

Colleges operate as very profitable business. We don't need to subsidize them. If I don't have kids or go to college I wouldn't benefit from that so why should I pay for it?

I wouldn't cap anyone's pay. If the public is paying your salary it should be public information. When there are too many qualified people who would do the job for less we should adjust or replace. No caps! Free market will work.

I'll add one. Health insurance should be taken away from all employers. EVERYONE should have to buy health insurance as an individual IF they want it. Everyone should have access to the same choices. There should be open enrollment ages where it is guaranteed issue at that time only. People who don't buy it and run up medical bills that we (taxpayers) pay should lose EVERYTHING they own including their drivers license, car, house, TV, etc. The true poor should be exempt like they always are and be covered under a Medicaid type system that should ALWAYS have small co-pays and annual verifications.
No employer should EVER be a part of your insurance in any way. It's a flawed system that we have where people THINK things are free and you lose your insurance when you get sick and can't work or change jobs or retire young. It's the worst design in the world.

I agree that health insurance should be taken away from all employer and that the draft should be brought back.

Another question:
Why does poker get more air time, on ESPN, than bowling? At least, in bowling, people are slightly doing something physical.

(STI will post a clip from 'Kingpin')

We are in the minority.
