I am very new to some of terminologies here. what FMO , IMO, GA means. i have been captive for 3 years going independent in the next moth or two. I am in Los Angeles.

FMO = Field Marketing Organization
IMO = Insurance Marketing Organization
GA = General Agent

IMO= Independant Marketing Organization/ In My Opinion

I have saw it both ways: Independant Marketing Organization and Insurance Marketing Organization. I think Independent makes more sense.

What one has to be careful of is when an organization says they are an IMO, when if fact they're a FMO. I personally have found that a TRUE IMO will give non-biased advice; as they are not being subsidized by an insurance company to help push their products.

FMO's are being subsidized so you have to be careful of the information that you receive. I hope this helps.........
