Newspaper Ad... What Say Ye.

A guy from my home town (population 6,500) ran an ad in the local newspaper every night.....it was a small question and answer ad with his picture and phone number. I do know he was flat broke at 40 when he started and a millionaire at 47 (had a few agents working for him)....I cant help but think that little ad generated some leads for him.

It was very doable. The ads are usually a 4x5 or 5x6 ran on the obit page :)... for $55-80/week. Runs in two papers.

I've done this long enough that I do very little that doesn't triple or at a min. double my money. Even when I'm prospecting I "assume" that cost is $120/day even though the actual activities may not be costing me that much.

I'm telling ya guys.. put Yanker on ignore. Best move you can make. The only time I see his childish negativity is when some of you quote his ignorance. Believe me... you won't miss any nuggets of wisdom by not seeing his post... that ought to be implied.

Did you try any FE ads?

Nope, but it might work. It would be easier to see a good ROI with FE since most plans pay over 100% comms. I sell several supps that pay in the 12-14% range so making up dollars spent can be a challenge unless I hit one or two a week with a company paying 20%+.

I guess my question is this, can you make a chart up saying here is your age, non tobac and tobac, and give the rates but not put the carriers names? "Are you paying too much for your Medicare supplement? or New Medicare supplement rates just out...

Do you emphasize on the fact that you contract with the "best" /"Most affordable" companies or anything? or just tag it w/ name/co./800#?
