Obama on God's Side

Not sure where "God's partner for health care reform" came from, but there may be an indirect connection.

Unless this is simply another pile of used food from the industry lobby's bag of dirty tricks -- like pulling the plug on grandma, or coverage for illegal aliens.

As a lifelong, Christian, I understand the biblical dictates to help those less fortunate (even though the major mentality here will no doubt say they are illegals, or are cheap, or otherwise lazy, shiftless scum just looking for a free ride at their expense).

Jesus healed the sick, hung out with the poor, and admonished the Pharisees for their hypocracy and "enlightened self-interest". So, in a way, trying to get health care for our uninsured and underinsured citizens can be viewed as a type of Christian "mission".

I think it's a bit stretchy, though, to say that God is your co-pilot on the drive to health care reform -- if it's even true to begin with.

You are correct, Jesus did go out among the thieves, whores, and diseased to minister to them, heal them and get them back into a good life and into society. But Jesus is the "church" not the government.

We are to pay to Ceasar what is Ceasar's and pay to God what is God's, that being the church. So for the Obama administration to come in and sign away the country in the form of stimulus packages, cars for clunkers and now health reform, is not their job. :nah:

So I do believe Obama does believe exactly what Reverand Wrong preached, God Damn America!! Because that is exactly what he is doing to this country, damning it to the Hell of Debt!

Well of course there are gay conservatives! Nothing wrong with that. It's not conservative principles that people have issues with, it's the goofy platforms of the parties. Yuk.

Well, well, "patriot," I didn't know you were gay. I guess that makes you a neo-queen! What DO you boys do behind that Log Cabin of yours?

:D

I never understood why everyone gangs up on LCRepublicans

The left uses it as an insult while they call the right homophobic? (oh, hypocrisy)

The "right" demand limited government yet support legislation that interferes with people's private lives?

I care about my country, couldn't care less if my neighbor is gay. Why they continue to be the butt of jokes from both sides of this paper thin aisle is beyond me?

This venue is full of neo-con gay-bashers. I hope we will get some learned insight from some of them. I've never seen a venue with so many homophobic men.

My guess (as oft stated) is that most of them are closet queens or married bi-sexuals and can't quite come to terms with it all, especially down there in Pig Poop Holler, TN.

Al,

I keep having trouble with this, so hopefully you can explain it to me. Why is it ok for you to hate, but not everyone else? I mean honestly, you throw around as much hate on this board as the next ten combined.

You actually have a decent point once in a while, but it gets lost in your rhetoric of hate. To me, there is little difference between yourself and those you rail against. You may hate different things, but you both hate with a passion.

...homophobic men...closet queens or married bi-sexuals...
I hope we will get some learned insight from some of them.
Man, you are so off track it ain't even funny. What in the world do you and your buddy Mr. Dylan want to know? Just ask!!! (Probably too late for Dylan)

I've worked and lived with blacks, whites, gays, crazies, alcoholics, musicians, ex-cons, from every economic spectrum. Close, everyday work too, I'm not just talking "cocktail party acquaintance". To give you an example, more than once I've befriended a gay person when everyone else shunned them. Listened to them pour their heart out as to WHY they were gay. Hey man, I ain't gay, but I've been close friends with gays (and the rest of the spectrum of humanity), all - right here in the South that you so dislike. (As an aside, I've never asked a person why he was black - think about that.) I'm in all kinda folks' houses every day and night. They move here from everywhere, ya know. Everybody just luuuuuvs the South (this particular part, anyway). Ain't no recession here.

So, just ask. I probably know the answer. And that's knowledge you can't get with ANY degree. It's why Obama is so screwed up - his RELATIONSHIPS and how he handles them. It's sad. He doesn't really know how to handle people other than as an egotistical thug. He's really screwed up if you ask me. Most liberals I know are like that to one degree or another. THEY are the ones who have the phobias, not us reg'lar ole country folk. Think about that.

And there are lots more of us out here than anyone thinks, I meet like-minded folks every day - gives me hope. Just hope they vote more often. :twitchy:

Anyway, I understand your pent-up anger. But, it's now FORTY-PLUS years later man, the world, it has a'changed! Just put the doobie down and get real, man.

Just take it easy, one step at a time:
Come on home, the door's wide open, and you are welcome!

I don't get to post on here too often anymore, but I'll check back in from time to time.

I am sorry, but coming from someone who states you have been a lifelong Christian and understand its doctrines, then to say that, "it's a bit stretchy..."???? A lifelong Christian would know that this is quite more than "stretchy", rather it is outright heresy and blasphemy. God is no one's co-pilot.

So sorry if I have taken you out of context. Maybe you were being sarcastic, but stretchy????

Kazz -- yes, I was being sarcastic.

Actually, I don't believe the original statement is even true, partly because it's not properly sourced. There's just so much pure, unadulterated nonsense being made-up now to confuse and side-track a reasonable, rational dialogue -- that I tend to believe the kind of statement we're dealing with here is straight out of Fantasyland.

I'm not a far-right wing variety Christian anyway, like Sarah Palin or that bizarre Michelle Bachman from MN. I frequently "talk to God", but not "with" Him. No extended two-way conversations.

Why are you guys talking about sexual preferences on an insurance forum? There are a lot of fags that can't pass UW so....maybe that draws some relation to the whole insurance forum gay talk.

When speaking about health reform remember this: At what point did our constitution give the government the right to take away plans that people voluntarily choose to participate in? It didn't...

Anything to pad the voter block.

Grasping at straws as he watches those poll number plummet.
Personally, I dislike whenever any politician or salesman plays the "Rid'n with the King" angle …

This was W's calling card. Pathetic then. Pathetic now.
This is going to hurt him.

Freedom of religion is important
Politics are important.

Combining the two undermines the validity of both?
