Obama Signs Bill Expanding Federal Health Care for Kids

Hey Winter tell everyone how well Guaranteed Issue works (Obama is a huge supporter of this) and how good the rates are in your state, product selection, etc., etc.,

Tell everyone how great an over regulated market works in states like NY, NJ, and a handful of others.

Being a newb on this forum I suppose I should refrain....but I cant resist.

Can we give OUR new prez a year or two before rushing to judgement on his economic policy? I suppose some of you insurance agents are "more informed" & educated???? LOL

Also Im curious...can a conservative/repub/right winger explain why pissing away one trillion + in Iraq is so much more appealing & acceptable than investing in our own?
No, we cannot give him that much time. If you take what is proposed in the current plan you will see that the majority of the plan has nothing to do with stimulating the economy but a ton to do with paying back political favors to groups like ACORN, Planned Parent Hood, and several other special interest groups.

Inside the stimulus plan there is about $50+million for the national endowment for the arts (how many jobs does that create?), $600 million for new Eco Cars for the government (again, how many jobs?)$650 million for TV converters? $400 million to the CDC for stopping sexually transmitted disease? How many jobs? etc.

Read The Simulus.org

I have been in business my entire life and this is not how you stimulate people to spend money: ie: by taking peoples money via taxes and redistributing them to government programs. This is how you grow a bureaucracy so large it will eventually change the very fundamentals that our country were founded on.

Anyone with half a brain that reads this thing should be able to see that. BTW- I have only read about half of it. The complete bill is about 1500 pages. How much have you read?

Imagine how much you could have read with a complete brain . . .

Seriously, I have read through much of it . . . trying to wade through the legal mumbo jumbo and concentrate of the real spending parts. Have read several digests of the bill.

It's scary what Washington considers necessary stimulus. Anyone who has studied history knows that government does not create jobs.

Obama didnt write the Stimulus Bill, Congress did. Yes it has pork I personally could live without but it also funds other things such as tax breaks for businesses & rebuliding the infrastructure. Essentially every socio-economic sector is represented in his bill...not just the wealthy which as we know is the rights problem with it and Obama's policies.

This is my last post regarding anything political. In hindsight I should have kept quite, this site is about all things insurance. We should keep it that way.

In regard to Guaranteed Issue, even though I am not a Southerner, I think I am going to have to say "that dog don't hunt." Probably the best description I can think of.

I would like to see them slip a provision into the Spendulus Bill that requires Democrats to pay taxes.

I'm glad you are so smart, in fact why don't you just sit on your couch a little longer and devise a plan that will save our economy.......ohh wait...that plan would be to go back in time, save a trillion dollars on a senseless war(question you never addressed) and never be in this shithole situation to begin with.

Actually you would do well to learn some of the lessons of the Iraq fiasco. After 911, there was tremendous pressure to just do something highly reactive even if there was not a lot of intelligence to go with it. Similarly, we woke up one day last september or so and all the experts had concluded that the sky was falling and even today Obama just rattles on endlessly about about "all the experts" agree that we need to do this. And it needs to be big, and it needs to be right now, and we dont have a lot of time for reflection. Nevermind that that is not true and there is no history of curing the problems of overspending by overspending on an even larger scale. As with Bush after 911, it is quite possible to dig yourself in deeper with a half-baked response. Obama is well on his way.

Nevertheless, the President wants to do something big and splashy based on very little intelligence. This is going to be Obama's Iraq. He wants to carpet bomb the country with giveaway dollars. Libs are defending him by pointing out ad nauseam that he is not George Bush. That isnt going to work much longer. He is into something now that he is actually responsible for. Sure, he inherited this or that. Poor baby, there isnt a single president whose presidency was not defined on how they dealt with issues that had absolutely nothing to do with what they campaigned on. Not one.

It is also worth noting that we are having a worldwide recession/depression so George Bush and the Iraq war are not necessarily responsible for everyone else's economy. Probably there are other factors at play. Although I know in lib economics no sparrow falls that America is not responsible for.

Based on the results of the $350 billion spent on the bank bailout so far, why would anyone have any confidence that these nitwit politicians could organize a walk around the block for maximum efficiency and stimulus?

This country is in big trouble, and growing bigger every day.
