Obama Signs Bill Expanding Federal Health Care for Kids

Why? You know what I'll say. I've said it before. These days I much prefer to write satire on you right-wingers running down the country and dissing your president. Al (the forum ***)

It's just a lame defense mechanism that you using. Now that Obama is in charge and responsible (and indeed he is, as hard as it is for you to accept) you dont want to give any straight answers to legitimate questions and concerns that people have. Instead, you have suddenly decided to go flaccid and fall into a satire routine as a way of avoiding it.

Cowardly.

But they are still unknowns, and it is a good policy to, as Harry Truman said, "Walk softly, but carry a big stick."

Al

Errr.. I think that would be Teddy Roosevelt who said "speak softly but carry a big stick."

You are not doing very well on the speak softly or the big stick part but other than that you are following your own advice.

You don't go to a gunfight... with a knife. With kids like Healthguy and Winter, if you don't hit them back as hard as they hit you, you lose, and will be taken out.

Al

Well whoooo-eeeee. I guess you have become battle-hardened from all that hand-to-hand combat in the bathhouses there in San Francisco. What a tough guy.

Tassles on your shoes?

Only when the leaders of our country are elected on their background in economics, business and money will this thing turn around. In my day, these lawyers that are running our country in the ground were called quacks. The office of political service is won by money-- pure and simple. Until that changes, nothing will change.

AL3: I pride myself in being the one person on this forum that wont ever bend over and lube up for you.

SCHIP is going to lead socialized medicine in the next 20-30yrs.

If you give an entire generation free health care then they will put no value on it. So when they become a voting class they will vote for socialized medicine.

SCHIP has some serious problems to it. The funding factor is a huge issue. They are stating they can tax tobacco to fund it. That is BS. As smoking rates decline where are they going to get this funding. I can tell you right now the black market tobacco market is growing by leaps and bounds as it is.

Another big issue for me is network discounts. When the doctors treat these kids they will be getting paid on medicaid levels. This will lead to doctors to rationing treatment. Look at last year when congress proposed a 10% discount on medicare fees.

To open health care up to illegal immigrants is crazy. How can the states pay for this with out raising taxes?

I have a lot of clients that have their children on the current SCHIP plan. Its not broke as it is. There is no way that SCHIP has 90% of the eligible children on the plan. I bet they don't even have 50% of eligible children on it.

That would be my assessment. In fact someone was asking me about this thing the other day, and I gave an estimate of 40% of eligible children on schip.

Don't be deceived about the tobacco tax, they know what they're doing. Since the government got out of the business, and removed the allotment program, the tob. grown in this country has increased, along with demand.

They stand to make a truck load off of this tax increase, they just have to fine tune it. They're going to tax all forms of tobacco. They'll make a killing off of Cigars alone.

The black market will certainly benefit as well.

I agree with you.
The cigar tax is going to up to .40 per cigar but that industry is already working the loop holes on it. I have a client in the business.

They do stand to make a truck load off of it now but what about in 3 years. In my state they added a .44 increase per pack sold to fund a health program for the uninsured. The tobacco revenues dropped 23%.

The Native American cigarette web sites are going to doing some real business soon. You can buy them there without paying taxes on them.

I'm unsure as to why Al would say anyone wants Obama to fail. I think mostly everyone wants the country to succeed, for things to be better, the economy to heal.

Al, are you saying you automatically agree with everything your party does? That's ludicrous and that's how you act, such a staunch defender of Obamanation.

Why, really, what is it exactly?

And for the record, I voted for neither of the two candidates they picked to use as pawns. I just see the reality of the situation for what it is, the money hungry control freaks diminishing the constitution and the USA for their own interests.

And they die eventually, so ultimately where does it get them??
