Obamacare Causes Chocolate Shortage

I could put up with the bailouts, borrowing, takeover of health insurance, and even the lies from Obama. But no chocolate?

Guess I gotta get to the market and stock up before it's too late.

Rick

While you are there, Rick, stock up on incandescent light bulbs.

Andrea, since you are in GA you will still have to buy your beer Monday - Saturday. Doesn't look like we are going to get the opportunity to vote on Sunday beer & wine sales.

As for me, wine & chocolate pair well when you have the right wine. If Obummer unionizes the vineyards I am in trouble.

That's okay I am used to stocking up on Saturdays. I like wine too so now I am in trouble on 3 fronts. On the bright side I may just lose a few pounds. Oh yeah, I will anyway, hard to afford beer wine and chocolate with the commission cuts.

Ahh yes, wine and chocolate.... With 53 wineries by my house, I've been known to try to seek out the perfect matches on a few afternoons!

Actually, it will be down to 52 soon, hopefully someone new will come along to replace the one that is closing down.

Napa or Sonoma valley?

Had a 2007 Napa Louis Martini cab ($20) last week and this week had a chance to compare it to the 2008 Sonoma cab ($8).

Yes, there is a noticeable difference but the Sonoma is a great buy.

Got a few Ty Caton cab's left in the cellar I picked up for $16 each (2008 Sonoma). My liquor store only had a few left and sold them to me at 40% off their regular price.

Fortunately for them, I am a very good customer.

I find it best to twist open the cap and let it breathe for awhile. While wine doesn't need to breathe so I just put the box in the fridge.

Actually, Livermore Valley. Lots of wines better than the average Napa Wine, lots of wines worse. Most are specialty wines, so you may not see them on your local stores, except maybe Wente.

Until prohibition, Livermore was larger and better known than Napa. During prohibition, only 3 wineries in Livermore were allowed to stay open (church exemptions), Napa had 16, I think.

Rick - your fridge may be to cold, even for a white wine. Make sure the box is at least on the top shelf and don't let it sit to long before you get the next glass out. Opening the door on occassion keeps the wine a bit warmer.

I usually don't buy domestic wines but will make an exception when I come across something I like.

Lately I am in to Spanish wines. Finding some good values on Tempranillo in the $10 - $20 range.

Depends on what kind of mood I am in. Have a collection of Italian, French, Australian and Chilean wines with a few domestics.

Actually Rick, screw top (Stelvin) is showing up on some decent wines now . . . at least those not sold in a box.
