Obamacare Glitch Could Make Coverage Unaffordable For Low-Wage Workers

Ok thanks, the main part I wanted to here was NOT eligible for a subsidy. She was adamant about that and I said no they cannot receive the subsidy. If they put their book out there like this to all operators then they'll just have to redo it. I can imagine the expense because (without mentioning any names) is the largest ff in the world.

I went round and round over this exact issue see Arizona Expands Medicaid thread. It gets real good on page two..lol

This lady may just know something here. I have been hearing a word lately..... "Hardship".... she just might know what she's talking about.

I concur with Yagents.... if the plan is affordable(9.5% of EE income) then no subsidy period.... they can buy wher ever they want though..

Next, from what I understand if the premium exceeds 8% of family income they can apply for a hardship waiver to be excluded from the ACA mandate requirement

Oh well that explains it..... IL.. they get "special" treatment.;)

She's not in Il, she's a franchisee in Florida.

Oh well some of this might be a mute point by the 1st of the year, a democratic and republican introduced a bill yesterday to change the definition of full time employee from 30 to 40 hours which would make more sense.

Hey, just thought of something. I thought the company I'm talking about out of IL received some kind exception a year or so ago for parts of this law. But can't remember what.

Here's the issue - if it costs under 9.5% of income, will the employee know that it's affordable? Or will there be penalties the employer has to fight, followed by clawbacks of subsidies for the EE later?

Fun, fun, fun.

I was talking to a very senior agent yesterday and he told me that the BCBSTX execs told him this......the spouse can go to the exchange and get subsidy even if the other spouses employer offers coverage for him or her, that is affordable and MEC. However the kids could not go to the exchange they stay on the group plan.

So if this is true it goes against what I've been told. Has anybody heard this?

Incorrect.............and misinformed

That's what I told him and I made him go over it 3 times just to make sure and each time he said the same thing. I even said if they don't offer spousal coverage I know that's true he said even if they offer it. And this guy has been in the health biz since 84.

I started last week , and know more.

Those on this board know more.

Just because he is an old dog in the biz doesn't mean they know what they are talking about in this new world

Kind of scary that a veteran agent will be giving bad advice. Gotta feel for the uninformed consumers out there.
