What a mess.

No wonder Barry looks like he needs a cigarette here. Just a complete mess. All you can do is watch at this point. Even the leading dems dont have a clue how either the substance or the procedure of it all would work.

And then there are the elections. Mrs. Pelosi has started telling members that they came to Washington to serve their country and the people and they should be prepared to vote for the bill even if it costs them their seats. But the dems are asking how it serves their country and the people by voting for a bill that no one wants or understands.

What a mess.

If most of your friends (voters) had turned against you in the last 12 months and everything you tried turned to crap you might smoke & drink to relieve the pain as well.

The guy is a total frick up. An empty suit in way over his head. This is the first time in his life he has had a job that comes with responsibility and accountability and he has failed miserably.

I would be really opposed to Obama's positions if he was white. Since he's black, he gets a pass on everything for me and Al.

I have to write this very carefully.

The current administration has, effective Feb 21st, done something that has not been done since 9/11. All contrary to his campaign promises.

I'll leave it at that.

As diiscussed, note that Al is only interested in presidential politics and has no interest in or knowledge of public policy whatsoever. Ask him about any aspect of health care or any other issue and the answer is always in terms of who will and will not be president. Even in the political arena he has no interest in anything other than presidential politics. If the presidential policies or lack thereof fail or cause the dems to lose majorities, that is no interest.

He cites Clinton as an example because he was re-elected. This would be the same Clinton whose entire poltical and policy landscape was changed by the midterm elections and a conservative takeover. That would be of no concern to Al though. What happens in a presidency is of no interest as long as his man is in power. What a hack. His entire political education consists of handing out bumper stickers with the name of his candidate. Anything more substantive than that escapes him.

Bout time for another lecture from Al on how I am wrong about how hard it will be to pass the Baucas Bill and the House Bill and that it will be a bloodbath and cost a lot of seats before it is over and that it will cause a shift to the right by those who remain in office. Yep. Wrong about all that. He just hasnt been able to use the computer at the "home" to for the usual diatribe. Yep, we will have the bill passed by August recess last year.

Wake up you Southern and Northern hicks and get smart like Al. The Left Coast is the wave of the future. Unfortunately, the wave of the future is bankruptcy but no matter as long as Obama is president.

For example, Vladimir Lenin was white but he also was a commie just like Obama so I am opposed to his worldview as well

The more pissed off the somarco's of this venue are, the better indication to me that he will be re-elected three years from now, just as Clinton was.

Leaving the emotions aside for just a minute, the dynamics were much, much different for Bill Clinton.

Analyzing the situation carefully, the facts more parallel the Jimmy Carter situation in 1980. As I recall, he wasn't reelected.

Moonlight makes a excellent point. I say this knowing I've been guilty of it as well. It's easy to get caught up on how we FEEL about this or that. Quite another to speak based on FACTS. Amazing how facts get lost in the shuffle.

Oh some of the similarities are striking. Both had a failed health reform plan that caused a massive movement toward the center for many dems - Clinton included along with a massive change on the Hill. Just as is going on right now.

I can meet you more than halfway though on the point you are making. One thing that Clinton had going for him that Obama does not is that he was a practical whore who could pivot toward the center as needed and still live with it. Obama is a true socialist idealogue. I dont know if he has it within him to move toward the center. I dont think so. Plus Clinton had advisors around him that urged him to move to the center. Obama is surrounded by Fidelistas who can't see the center from where they are. When Obama says "I would rather be a good one term president than a mediocre two-term president," what he means is that he wants to cling to his commie platform even if he does not get re-elected.
