"Of course he can't give an explanation because it isn't possible."

No I think I gave you an explanation, you might have skipped over it.

"And somehow this makes a person a hypocrite in Gilmore's eyes because they are going to collect social security"

No, I just don't take libertarians seriously cause all they do is B itch. They hate living here, find nothing positive with living here. Yet here they are.

Yet, they use all the services available to them but do so with "disgust" ;)

And I answered your fund your own retirement question as well. Cheers.

Look what I find funny about some of you here is you complain about everything.

I choose not to live my life that way. I just lost half my foot last month. Could have been much worse, could have killed me. I guess I should complain that they couldn't save that part of me. Would that make me a libertarian then?

NOPE, just glad I am still here, I will walk again and I am glad I have full insurance coverage and disability plans as well. You guys complain about life too much for me.

Life in America is as good as you want to make it for yourself. This is why some of you make me smile. What do they call it "1st world problems?"

I'm not complaining. I'm simply asking you how one goes about not participating if they don't agree with it? You were the one who suggested that Rick not participate. How is saying you'd prefer a different option complaining?

You posted about not agreeing with the wars that have been fought. Does that mean you are complaining? So you can disagree with something, but nobody else can? Or is it only complaining if you have a differing opinion? The whole "you guys" thing is just too broad, but that's par for the course from you as it happened a lot on the religion and politics forum.

The other thing that is typical is the sad story about the person buying cat food. We hear it every time conservatives talk about making changes to social security. It's a scare tactic and meant to paint anyone who would want to make changes as a heartless person. Right out of the Alinsky playbook. Does it mean it doesn't happen? Of course not. But it is the exception and not the rule.

With that said, I truly am sorry about your foot. What was the reason you lost half of your foot? Accident, sickness?

"Some of us have done more than bitch. Unlike you, I've actually run for office and tried to make a difference"

How'd ya do on the vote?

What office?

"I'm simply asking you how one goes about not participating if they don't agree with it? You were the one who suggested that Rick not participate. How is saying you'd prefer a different option complaining?"

Cause it is. To live here, some things you simply have to accept. Rick has to accept SS as part of American life, and I have to accept dropping bombs on people.

No it's actual life experience at the Broadway Safeway in Everett Wa in the 1970's. Real life. The mill was Scott paper. As I said, 40% of the daily business was in script. We did about 40-60k a day total sales back then. Only a small percentage abused the system. Most were trying to feed all those kids they were encouraged to continue to have. Had probably 8 families that already were at that 19 and counting BS.
The thing was nobody thought to give them a TV show for having litters of children.

Why is it the only people who cite Alanksy are people like yourself? :)

I had no idea who the guy was until people like yourself kept telling me I was following him. ;) Sorta a game of blame the other guy first for your behavior. Accuse them first... ;)

Sorry guys, my liberal bent about this comes from watching mill worker widows having to buy cat food to eat because they had so little to live on.
I used to bag their groceries, worked in a place that handled 40% food stamps on the day in transactions. NOT every poor person is a deadbeat.

So if that makes me liberal, not wanting a bunch of old women forced into the streets to fend for themselves, well guilty as charged. Call me what you want, like it's "supposed" to make me feel bad.

You know what makes me feel bad? was at 16 asking an old lady what kind of cat she had and watching her turn red faced from embarrassment. Then the checker elbowed me in the ribs.

Let me say, I believe in helping people when they need help. No issue with that. I'm more of a 'teach them to fish' rather than 'give them a fish' type of person, but both have a time and a place.

I also agree, not every poor person is a dead beat. In fact, only a few are, but they create a reputation. Its the 'one bad apple' syndrome.

You're story though proves social security and food stamps are a waste of time and taxpayer dollars. If the people that rely on these are forced to eat 'cat food', then the programs are utter failures and should be discontinued immediately. This is not teaching them to fish or giving them a fish (other than what is in the cat food).

I know better though. People on social security and food stamps don't have a great, easy life, but they do usually have enough to live on.

Also, before you get bent out of shape complaining about people complaining, understand earlier in the thread, another member was complaining about people not complaining about anything other than Obamacare. Can't win.
