OEP 2016 Changed to 11/1/2015 to 1/31/2016

95% of My clients would disagree................3rd Term! 3rd Term! Yeah Baby!

This ACA is a tale of two cities...... It was the best of times(those of us selling, in the eyes of OUR consumer low cost affordable plans) and it was the worst of times(those selling to the upper middle class and middle class, damn these things are expensive)

Not saying I agree with ACA laws but just like providers that refuse to take ObamaCare plans, even those that have signed a contract to accept them, they just got left at the gate when the gun sounded.

Providers are much like insurance agents in that some of them retooled their practice in order to be successful marketing in the new era of indy health... some of them didn't. The funny thing is the complaining and bitching about all this is coming from the providers that didn't retool to accommodate the brand new way to be successful... agents followed the exact same path as the providers....

The best of times, the worst of times..

TMI. Did your wife kick you and the kids out to celebrate OEP being over and she needed some peace and quiet?

I actually thought the same thing as Y..."who is this. Tater can't even spell "Dickens"

Nice Post, Tater. It was very well written. I especially liked the reference to fine literature in the "tale of two cities" line.

But it's a tale of 10 cities (or more). There are many ways to re-tool your business and succeed wildly. You picked one way, some agents picked other ways. But if you come home with the same amount of money, it all adds up to the same success.

Like Houcoogster said, 95% of his clients are happy. Of course, he didn't have a pre-ACA book of IFP clients. So, if/when the next rug is pulled out, 95% will be unhappy. That's what happens when you have a large book of clients to protect and the govt comes along and yanks the rug. The nice thing about having clients with an income is that they keep paying their premium, even when the price rises.

So, which agents win? Answer- The one(s) that make money, pivot when the system changes, and have enough spare time to make it worth it. There are about 5-10 different ways to go about that in this post-ACA market. Selling heavily subsidized business is just one of those many ways. Granted, it can be very successful if done right, and I will tell people that Charles Peeler is an example of an agent who succeeded very well in that particular niche. However, opportunity doesn't knock in just one niche, nor do eggs survive very well in just one basket. Agents who succeeded in other methods in this post-ACA world still succeeded.

And I feel the same way for Providers. In fact, I have an appointment next month with a specialist that doesn't take most networks, and certainly no HMOs. I picked the best network that my carrier offers for that reason. He doesn't care that newbie doctors are running practices on the volume-treadmill method. He's extremely successful, and very sought-after. I couldn't imagine a "high volume practice" doctor feeling that this Specialist was "left at the gate" and not successful just because he choose not to engage in the volume of foot-traffic in the new Obamacare niche. I would pay cash for this doctor. Or concierge subscription plus cash. He's worth it.

Ok folks its high time tater come clean and tell you guys the truth. Tater and President Obama are old friends and distant relatives....notice the ears.

The likeness is amazing. No wonder TaterPeeler is so arrogantly confident at times. It's in da blood.

Seriously.. Why do I cringe when I see our President acting silly? Guess I'm just old-fashioned and out of touch with the new age.
