Options for long term disability with pre-existing

Are there any options for long-term disability plans that will cover pre-existing conditions? Basically Guaranteed Issue plans for purchase on the private market?

Otherwise what are one's options when faced with a debilitating condition besides Social Security disability, which does not pay enough to avoid bankruptcy/loss of lifestyle?

You're not going to find individual disability insurance for pre-existing conditions. It's like trying to buy homeowners insurance after a kitchen fire. You need to own the coverage prior to the health event.

That said, some group coverage will eventually cover pre-x.

If the condition is already preventing someone from working (so group isn't on the table), then I don't know of any options outside of SSDI.
