Out of Line

I cant' and won't say if Kenyan is racist or not. If the intent was racist, then so be it. Not my call.

Folks made fun of Jimmy Carter because of the way he talked and acted, which wasn't very presidential at times. There were and are many reasons to be critical of Carter but not because he talks funny.

My problem is with the man and his ineffectiveness so far in office. I don't care for him personally, don't trust him or the people he surrounds himself with. But I would have those same views if he was green.

I just saw the "Kenyan" thread. While I dont think InsDave's intent was to be racist, I can see how it could be interpreted that way.

Gimme a freak'n break?
I've had black friends whom I love dearly. Also, I remember having a black girl friend years ago. She was a junior gymnast … (sings - mamories … I mean, memories … dah, dah, dah …)
To be frank, when I first got into dem drawers; being a cracker; I didn't know what to expect. It was "exciting and knew" (from Loveboat), but I remember being really taken with exactly how similar it was to the white women I had had carnal knowledge of previously. Without going into vivid detail … that'll cost ya extra. Looking back, I don't think of her as a black girl but just simply as Debbie. A vivacious young, fun person that I got to spend some time with. Racisim is for people with no brains.
"The Kenyan." Is merely a jab at the media's former pre occupation with whether or not BO … Oh my God, is he, via innuendo and the use of Barac's initials, suggesting that negros give off body odor?... was a citizen, etc.
What is the inference? That no white people live in Kenya?
The only color I give a rat's about is green.

Second, if there is a problem that is larger for a specific group of people, is it wrong to put resources towards that specific group of people?

Because it is unequal treatment.

The question is if these policies are creating more problems than they are correcting and if these policies are simply hypocritical and continue to divide us all.

Lately it seems some folks are allowing prejudices to come through in their posts, particularly with regard to the president. Some have even been accused of making comments with racist undertones.

I have no idea if that was the intent or not, nor do I care. If someone wants to be racist and prejudicial, blatantly or otherwise, that is their problem.

Personally, I don't care for the president. I didn't vote for him, don't believe he is qualified for the job and believe he is in way over his head. His policy decisions are not helping and in fact are making things worse in many ways.

In spite of his bravado, he has not turned the economy around, the war is getting worse, not better, and some of our enemies will be testing him before too much time passes.

He tries to distract attention away from some of his decisions by doing these traveling road shows with hand picked crowds and campaign rhetoric.

In fact, the emperor has no clothes and the chickens are coming home to roost.

All that said, he has not demeaned the office of president as did Bill Clinton with his escapades with an intern in the Oval Office. Nor has he blatantly lied under oath to save his skin.

As president, he deserves respect regardless of his skin color.

Personally, I find it in very poor taste when someone makes racial comments or charges another member with making racist comments.

Great post and I totally agree on all counts.

Equality and fairness are two different things. As far as SOME black people looking to him as a role model since he's the "first black President", so what? If someone gets motivated to do better than they are doing now because they relate to someone who is successful, what does it matter to anyone. I personally don't care if you think he's white or black and you shouldn't care what other people thing along those lines either. Now, this is my opinion only. I just don't see why someone would waste time and energy being upset because someone calls him black. Hell, if I wanted to call myself black (which I don't) would you really care?

As far as SOME black people looking to him as a role model since he's the "first black President", ?

Wait, I thought Bill Clinton was the first black president. Now you guys taken this skin color thing to the point where the first black president has to actually be black. Who cares whether the first black president is black or not!

Let's face it. If everyone took a colorblind view toward Obama he would be considered a truly great leader- of France.

This thread is HILARIOUS. I'm of rainbow color so I can't be accused of being racist. Except by AL3.
Truly the reason it bothers me that 'some' black people want Obama to be black is because they call him "their President" to the exclusion of white folks. Makes me puke. Isn't Obama my brother as well?
