Oxford Declined Question

I second that - I just had a client declined on the PHI with Oxford due to cancer drugs within the past two years, but she had been declared cancer free about 6 years ago. I spoke with Amanda and she approved the policy within 25 minutes. The client was ecstatic. Just proves that it never hurts to escalate the case if you get a decline from the interviewer.

That's so weird! My prospect had been declined for blood pressure medication but the interviewer said to try to escalate it and I thought it was pointless so I went with another company and they turned him down as well and that was the end of that. Next time I know better :/

BTW "nitro" do you mean Nitroglycerins? Just trying to soak up all the knowledge.

Yes, if they've been declined by anyone else in the past 2 years Oxford's a decline.

This also goes for being Declined with Oxford for the past two years?

Question # 13 on the app says, "Have you been declined or postponed for life or health insurance in the past two years?"

I'd take that to include Oxford. If in doubt call Amanda and ask her @ 888-837-3387.

Companies that put that question on their app don't deserve our business. Unless they are alos going to automatically approve if you have been acepted elsewhere in the last 2 years.

HAHA, that's funny. I agree they don't deserve our business.

That is actually a great point.

I've never understood that. ESPECIALLY on a "simplified issue" application. There is absolutely NO POINT in asking that question. Unless you're going to skip the MIB and script check and rely on the other company that declined them to do your underwriting for you? If you got declined for a heart attack in a 2 yr. window 18 months ago and then apply to Oxford today you are being declined for a heart attack 3 and a half years ago when the question on the app is a 2 yr lookback. Simplified issue is BS with most companies anymore. Most, not all. They underwrite as tough as some fully underwritten policies.

I know they have good rates and it's my highest contract, but Oxfords pos is brutal. You're right, it doesn't seem like SI. I'm shelving them for now.

I argued this point with them quite a bit a couple years ago. Their reasoning is they want healthy lives, if a person has been declined then probability would say they are not healthy. While this unfortunately knocks out some good risk with bad circumstances, that is one of the draw backs of simplified issue.

I can see it working for them since they are fairly tight on their underwriting. A loose company, that is priced higher to account for more risk wouldn't make much sense since a tighter cheaper company can decline for conditions you priced in.

So, will they6 accpt people that other companies have done their underwriting for them?

I used to have Oxford in the bag but lost interest with them with the POS interview and cut renewals. The rates are nice, but I have other companies that are very close so its not worth it for me to have them.
