Pcip About Broke

Here you go:

Money runs low for health insurance in state high-risk pools - The Washington Post

They initially projected 375,000 would sign up and allotted $5 billion for those people. Instead, approximately 135,000 have signed up at one point with about 100,000 currently enrolled.

Just imagine, they were terribly wrong with their initial figures on PCIP. What makes anyone think they aren't wrong with their projections on Obamacare? This is going to be a clusterf%ck.

I have a relative that signed up for PCIP in July, had a surgery in October, bill 475,000. Another surgery in January, 150,000 and another surgery scheduled in April, 375,000.

Obama Suspends PCIP

from their site

Beginning February 16, 2013, the federally-run Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan (PCIP) is suspending acceptance of new enrollment applications until further notice. State-based PCIPs may continue accepting enrollment applications through March 2, and will then suspend acceptance of new enrollment applications until further notice. PCIP will continue providing coverage to more than 100,000 people currently enrolled nationwide. We encourage you to visit http://finder.healthcare.gov to explore your other health care options.

I heard it went broke because they paid agents a total of $2700 during the 60 day period we were involved.

Mr Cohen at CCIO was asked directly about funding available in the PCIP plan just this week, knowing they were going to have to close it just a few days later. Listen to the less than honest answer.
Fast forward to the 1 hr and 6 minute mark of this video:

The United States Committee on Finance: Hearings - Health Insurance Exchanges: Progress Report

at 1 hour 11 minn it gets good 2. just a bit b4 it. grasely talks about govt doing something to fix it if the rates submitted by the companies is to high.... I will listen to more of this later but as I indicated in a thread yesterday it seems the govt may do something to lower the rates so there is no "sticker shoch"
