Penguin 2.0

Don't we all! Hey Dave!!!

and they call me the sick one.

Part of the challenge is that google is constantly changing what they're doing. It's not just a matter of mixing X, Y, and Z together, it's predicting what Google wants before they want it. The direct from Matt Cutts is clear, create quality content and google will reward you. In personal experience that works to a point, but wishing doesn't make it so.

It really is too early to tell on my site. Matt Cutts from Google has a good video out where he describes the changes Google is working on. It sounds like there are some additional changes, in addition to Penguin 2.0, that are in the works.

This is the challenge for me. I'd love to really dig in both time wise and financially to optimize my site. Great...so thousands later and countless hours on my end, a year from now it's another change and I'm on page 4.

"Create quality content and Google will reward you." Kinda. What if there are 50 coffee sites all with high quality content?

That's why it's still all about backlinks. Google determines the quality of your content by the backlinks it recieves. Just because you spent 4 hours creating content doesnt make it quality is googles eyes. Once you start generating links google likes you'll be amazed how much even one link can do.

This whole quality over quantity thing is awesome because now you have the ability to out rank these established sites with way less work.

Most of the established competitors in insurance terms have been spamming away for years and all of a sudden a 1 year old website with not even a 10th of the links can out rank you and your years of "work".

In my opinion now is the time to be a new webmaster. What used to be OK is now bad and its easy to capitalize on and push the old guys down the serps and out the way. While all the "veteran" webmasters are crying about those nobody websites stealing their rankings I just sit back and smile

Its never been easier for small businesses to compete especially in insurance.

I'm not gonna argue about backlinks at all since I know they're important. But I create Youtube tutorials for long tail phrases, get about 100 views per video and actually get clients out of it.
