Phone Warriors: How To Handle The Long-Winded Prospect?

He came to the conclusion that some people just like to ramble on, and on, and then on some more. I guess college educated people will end the rambling if you ask them for the summary and conclusion.

Now, do you hear what I'm saying? Let me tell you about my conclusion and how I came to it. It all started back when I was about 3 and was just learning to speak...............................................................................................

What I have always done is start the conversation with I only have a couple of minute and I wanted to see if blah blad blah, people like doing business with busy people, sets most people at ease knowing your not trying to sell them over the phone and you can always go back to "like I mentioned I only have a few minutes to share etc"

I love those talkers. On the phone and in the home. I will talk to them as long as they want. I can't remember a talker that didn't buy.

I agree. When a person just keeps talking I feel very good. When they don't talk and seem anti-social I know a longer warm-up will be needed plus a little detective work to sense some hot buttons...in other words a more difficult close.
