Post-Corona, Preparing for Normalcy

Hi, speaking as a Michigander, there's a lot of misinformation about Michigan's stay home order (which was approved by a Republican State Congress)

The order has always been don't congregate in large numbers in confined areas.

However, you can still go outside and hang out with your friends and fam as long as you are social distancing at least 6 feet from people not in your household.

Secondly, people are getting up in arms because they can't go on motor boats, drive to their cabins go(because MI housing is really inexpensive), and shopping for unimportant crap to get out of the house.

.

But then why is this happening If its no big thing

To hurt my feelings.

Russia hacked your account and unblocked the blockheads.

Those are Coneheads Bob. THESE are Blockheads.

For a few reasons, but frankly MI is a highly purple state with a Democratic Governor and a Republican Congress.

Most of your protesters had a sea of red MAGA hats. They're going out and saying that Whitmer is taking their liberties, which she signed the EO. However, the Republican Congress approved extending the EO.

There's a few issues that people are having:

1) Misunderstanding on why COVID19 isn't the same as the flu and why social distancing and the lockdown is vital from completely overwhelming our health system.

One gentleman interviewed said the only way to quell the virus was to just let it spread.

What you don't know is that places like Detroit, they are completely overwhelming and they're shipping patients to other parts of the state for care, like here in TC 4.5 hours away.

2) We have a more severe crackdown because frankly, some people are stupid.

We have really low housing costs. So even middle class families can afford a summer cottage. We're coming out of winter and people want to go to Home Depot to buy gardening supplies breaking social distancing practices. Go on their pontoons with a bunch of people, etc.

This is really about selfish wants, not taking liberty. These people were out bare handedly passing out candy on the street and not following their own organizers guidelines for social distancing.

Michigan has the 3rd largest virus outbreak in the country. They need to follow the untilstay home order until we get the virus spread to a point where we're not overwhelming our healthcare system.

You cant go buy gardening supplies WTF

you're kidding me

Many people are stuck out of Work not making money and now they can't even do home project or gardening

Can they still;l buy seeds at least? Plan your own vegetables and fruits or is that out too

You can't buy them at big box stores. You CAN buy them from local businesses as they have a smaller location.

The issue is people are leaving their home to go buy stuff they don't need RIGHT NOW!

I mean, to me this is common sense. It's not about Jim not being able to shop for gardening supplies. It's about Jim and his entire city going to Home Depot and increasing the possibility of spread.

MA passed you up on # of cases.

One of my sons lives in the Deteoit area. He said they're not allowed to vist in residential areas. Luckily he bought a couple of gallons of paint before it was deemed unessential.

We're half way to having more deaths than the flu caused 2 years ago. The deaths are increasing every day. We'll pass that 61,000 by the end of the month. The social distancing has kept this from being a lot worse.

Yep, they got us by 100 cases.

I agree with it possibly being a lot worse. For me, this isn't a political thing. I think trying to reopen the economy in early May might be overtly optimistic.

Let's get stuff contained.

Here's what I see happening:

Certain areas reopen. All those people in areas that are not open will flock to open areas and reignite the spread.

The unemployed system has been in shambles for years, and I wish we had all been more prepared for this, but here we are.

We only get out by going through as cautiously as possible.

This is the actual order:
Whitmer - Executive Order 2020-21 (COVID-19)

Detroit may have additional locality restrictions because it's a hotspot. Up north we don't have the same issues.

I agree...I'm staying in. In the past month I've only been in one store...to get my edibles. Everything else we can get delivered by the local grocery store, local pharmacy and Amazon.
