Promoting Business With Facebook

I have actually made a few sales as a result of FB. More dumb luck than anything, but can't say it didn't work.

FB is a database of information that companies want and are willing to pony up to get that info. Even if they don't sell your personal information, they can track how often you visit, where you go, what you do while on the site and can compile a lot of demographic info that is valuable to marketers.

While FB is in a class by itself, there is a strong chance they could end up like MySpace......a nobody...

Though I am inclined to believe they have staying power.

I guess the only benefit worth talking about for seo, is backlinks? I couldn't see myself wasting too much time with FB, unless you post a lot of new content and link it to your fb business page?

I have made a couple off of LinkedIn. They were clients that had moved and I lost contact with. They goggled my name and Insurance. I am #1 and #2.
That is all I want. A place my clients and referrals can find me. I do not have a website.

I think I spent all of 30 minutes putting up my LinkedIn page. And $0.

.....so we can read the 1,000 spam messages per minute from insurance agents on Linkedin selling everything under the sun?

I connect with a lot of tax people, accountants and business owners and so far it has been a great source of prospects and leads.

But I guess you do end up spamming them and joining groups on linkedin just to promote yourself and your services...
