Question About Appointment Setting

I'd say a no show rate of 20% to 25% on FE appointments is normal if you're calling to simply set an appointment without pre-qualifying.

If you can set 5 FE appointments for the following day ONLY -- like JD says, is really the only way to do it -- in an hour? You're pretty good.

I have zero no-shows myself..................I just show at the door, but thats outside current context.

Not for nothing, but I have called and set appointments on cards. You're saying you don't do that? Is there anything else you're basing your assessment that I'm wrong on? I suspect that as other folks that work FE leads chime in the consensus will be that it's unlikely that 5/hour is a conservative estimate.

How good is your script if you're having a bunch of no-shows?

When you get a stack of cards you *might* get 5/hour right off the bat, but when you keep working them that set rate starts dropping. Anyone here setting their own appointments off lead cards is going to tell you the same thing.

jdeasy, you've probably worked as many lead cards as anyone else here and we both know you and I disagree about some things :) Do you think 5 appointments an hour is a conservative estimate?

David and I just discussed this in private but i don't mind saying it here. My goal is to set 6 appointments in day. I schedule one day out. If there is such a thing as "normal" I will schedule my 6 appointments in an hour to an hour and a half. That's on Monday scheduling for Tues from 15 freash leads that got on Sat. Most times it's less than an hour.

When I'm scheduling on Wed for Thurs and going through the reply cards for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and on and on times then it almost always takes more than an hour. Not to go through them all again but, if I don't reach them all and have the day set then I will take a hour or so break and then call again. Sometimes it takes all day to get that second day filled.

Plus, how hard I try to get it filled is based on how much business I've already written that week.

I have very few no shows but I do get them. I had one no show on Tues last week. By no show I mean that the person wasn't there and wouldn't answer either of his two phone numbers.

I had another one on Thurs but that guy called to reshedule.

It also depends greatly on the quality of the lead reply cards one is using. The ones I use say it's about life insurance and i also say I'm calling about life insurance when they answer.

Just and update - My appointment with this company never happened. The person I was communicating was very flaky and emailed me an appointment time of 11:00 AM - at 9:00AM the day of. I live 40 miles from their office and didn't receive the email until 10:30AM. I have been doing a lot of my own research on appointment setting for final expense agents. I've found scripts, auto dialers and good cm software. With my background in appointment setting for the time share industry as well as various direct sales experience (mostly door to door) I think I could perform very well in this field of work.

I've found that most quality appointment setters make $20-$30 an appointment plus bonuses for all sales. Some companies charge as much as $35 per appointment. I guess the key for most agents who don't want to make their own appointments would be to find someone with a great voice and demeanor and do a trial to make sure it will be worthwhile for both parties. I'm still researching everything but wanted to say thanks to all that replied to my post.

The lead costs most of us 20 to 25 dollars,
your appointment costs 20 to 30,
plus a bonus for each sale?? So the final cost to the agent could be $55.00 for each appointment and a bonus of what, 20 or 30 dollars? $75. to $85.00

That may sound right for cold calling for appointments.
If you're using the agents' lead cards, those numbers are way off. You'd be looking at roughly $5-$15 (at most) per appointment set with no bonus.

$30 plus a bonus on all sales is high even off a list.

$10/hour plus a bonus is about right.

Appointments off a lead card at $10 sounds fair.

I pay my one FT appointment setter $15hr, $20 per appointment and 10% of first year commission on middle market P&C business.

Doing a search on this forum for this, $10 per appointment is on the very low side.... Most people who have someone setting appointments for them pay $15 to $20 plus a bonus per sale. Granted they are very satisfied with the results.

That is for cold calling, not appointments set from lead cards. Appointments that are set from lead cards should cost $5-$15 per appointment.
You're confusing the two.
