Recruiting - Resume' Mining

My current IMO approached me recently about recruiting and using resume' mining. The thought being that you get a bunch of resume's, call prospects and drive them to a webinar. They're saying if I talk to 20 people 10 will go the webinar 2 or 3 will come on board and 1 will stick. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with and whether or not it's worth while or just a waste of time? Thanks for your thoughts.

So you are doing this to recruit agents or to write insurance?

I suppose either one can work if you throw enough against the wall. Just expect a lot of disappointment and upset people either way.

No, not with Primerica. I told my IMO that I was going independent and going to get another 20%. They offered another 15% with free recruiting leads. If I can recruit 1 or 2 solid agents a month it would be worth while. Just wanted to see if anyone else has any experience recruiting like this.

Thats all i used to do. Except for the webinar, we did a seminar in the office or conference room. Instead of calling resumes, i found it easier to sent out 1500 emails from monster or careerbuilder, have them call me. Then i would set up the interview, do the seminar, those that were interested would stick around, those that we liked we would interview. Take them out to ride with us for a day. Then hire em in masses, and train em in classes

Did you work for United American?

Keep in mind that it's very time consuming and it will take away from personal production. It can be rewarding until you have to pay someone else's chargeback because they disappeared. One chargeback can wipe out a lot of over rides.
You can make it work if you have the time to commit to it.

It is very hard to recruit and manage and do production.

Recruiting will absolutely take away from your personal production!! Most effective recruiting is pounding the phone or referrals. Lots of ways to get lists, target your agents, etc....its just comes down to very hard work. I would be very surprised to see someone be very successful recruiting and still be able to maintain a high production level. Typically you're good at one or the other, but not both at the same time.

I wish you luck, but remember its very difficult. If it was as easy as 20/10/3/1 then everyone would do it....Takes time my friend!! We hired a fulltime recruiter due to the major distraction it can cause!! By the way, our recruiter works social network, referral leads from agents, and mixes resume mining and agent surveys...She has a strong mix of methods and gets the results as a combination.

If you are doing this, www.indeed.com is a great place to post job ads....but its not a good place for independents because they restrict opportunities that require lead investment....so as long as you are supplying leads...indeed is a great place to build some awareness.
