You can offer a public option but you have to get the providers to participate and unless they just flew in from Pakistan last week, it is remains to be seen where they will come from. Something for Obama to think about.
The House bill as currently structured (unless there have been major changes since I last went through it) will never fly. Carriers are not going to sign off on all that crap they want to put in there AND agree to a 4% annual rate increase.
The CBO hasn't priced all the provisions. Just a few. A bunch others are "off the table".
Then there are the hidden taxes, such as Medicaid shifts. The federal cost estimates don't include the state tax portion.
