Replaced Foresters Today

I've read and re-read posts, one thing I've noticed, those who sell on price don't mind selling an inferior product for a fraternal company. Self righteousness comes in many flavors. It's all about making the sell, even if you use a non backed Guarantee Association company's certificate.

In the past an IMO that I was working with, was pushing Foresters. The rep called several times, I told him NO each time.

I agree with having reservations with a fraternal organization...How do you feel about companies that don't have an AM BEST rating?

Then why couldn't one sell a lower priced insurance company if they are scared of fratenrals? Like Americo, Oxford, Monumental.

It seems your dog won't hunt.

All this talk about state guaranty fund is hilarious. I remember when I first found out about it during licensing.

If you think you need the state guaranty fund to make it ok to buy insurance from a particular company, then you shouldn't be buying from that company anyway.

Same with the FDIC. While sadly it gets used more than guaranty funds, if you need the FDIC to make you feel safe about your bank, it is past time to move your money.

And for the record, I sell fraternals, stock and mutuals. I prefer mutuals but any that fit the situation will do.

I personally own an Om policy, an Assurity policy, a Shenandoah policy and an RNA certificate.

I certainly feel better about the RNA cert than the Shenandoah policy.

The fraternal thing is nothing more than a scare tactic. My wife and I both got $250 in fratenral aid from RNA 3 years ago due to the ice storm here. None of our policies gave us anything.

I got $180 off a pair of glasses last year with my RNA discount card. None of my policies had an eyeglass discount with them.

I had one of my RNA clients get a $2000 grant from them. None of my policy companies would have done that.

I do concern myself with the ratings and won't sell any company, fraternal or not, that is not A rated.

Someone told me you cannot bring up the state guaranty fund with a customer. it is a no no...since I cant say who told me, or when, I am wondering if this is true...

I do sell RNA, they have been around a little while..
RNA does have an am best rating.

It is a law in Tennessee and I believe every other state. You can not use its existence to induce a consumer to purchase one company over another. Maybe Norwayguy will pop in and tell us about Maine and their strange stance on fraternals and the state guaranty fund.

Maine's DOI is wacked you can not mention the SGA during the course of making a sale.... Having said that they put out a notice to agent about UCT Medsups about agents "failing" to inform consumers about the lack of SGA coverage on thier products.

I could also mention in Maine it is illegal to door knock a seniors do not only for MA sales but for any insurance product that the senior does not expect you to show up... You can imagine my conversation with the DOI about how to tell a seniors home from anyone else's.

It make me think of Glenn Neasham they have laws on the books and 999 time out of 1000 there is no issue but if someone wants to make an example just watch out.
