Replaced Foresters Today

Not an observation, but are funeral directors cold?

Should I beleive my FD? He said he'd be the last person to let ME down! LOL

Should be a matter of weeks until another agent comes in and gives her your $4,000 of coverage for $15 less per month. Hope you're not advancing too much....

I'm sure it's a pleasant thought...However, because of the way I work, planning the funeral and not simply selling on price, an insurance guy won't be able to come in back of me and unravel the deal. In the past twenty years, I've had 2 NTO and never been replaced. I hasten to make it clear that I love the life ins industry. What I do has very little to do with monthly pre and everything to do with service. When I leave a home everything re the funeral has been done and buttoned up. You can't undo that. Nevertheless, I don't have illusions about what I am. I'm not a financial planner. I peddle burial insurance door to door...

How much was she paying for the Foresters policy?
Does the LH have immeadiate coverage or is it one with a 2 year wait?

You've sold LH for 20 years and have never been replaced? I find that hard to believe.

I was lucky enough to run into my first LH plan last week. The clients gave me the speech about how this was their "burial" plan and that it was all set up and they were keeping it. Once I showed them that it was simply life insurance, and that I could increase their DB by 50% for the same price, they were on board.

If you have been selling this stuff for 20 years, I'm gonna go ahead and say it is impossible that you have not been replaced.

Also, if you are selling in the field, why don't you just offer other carriers that are more affordable? I don't get it...

Inflation in the funeral and cemetery industry has averaged 4.5% inflation not 7%. At least over the last 60 years.

A healthy 70 year old is not expected to die within 10 years on average. And even if the AVERAGE one did, that would leave 49% of them that would outlive the average.

Congrats on the sale. Sounds like the Foresters agent had him overloaded. I agree that if they can't afford it you are doing them a favor. I can't imagine why you do all that you do but then sell them LH. Why wouldn't you offer them other choices?

Nonsense...I matched need with capacity to pay. A lapsed death benefit is of no value at all...

You reduced the face is all you did to make a sale. Once the Foresters agent finds out all he will have to do is go in and match the face amount that you reduced and will again be lower priced for the same coverage.

Sure you gave the FCGS crap. Did you tell them it was worthless for two years?

I've been in back of this rep before. She buries these prospects, usually shooting them a face of 10000. Me, I get close to the prospect (some of these 70 year olds are cute!) and I plan their final arrangements to the penny. In this case a $1500 cremation projected on a 10- yr life expectancy to $4429.07...$35 a month. This gives the prospect exactly what she wants and needs and a few more bucks every month...I had to laugh to myself as I was doing my Johnny Smiley routine I was thinking of Frank Stastny's belief that you first save them money and that leaves an open to buy for something else (FE for Frank) for this prospect, a monthly internet connection...

Hope your E&O insurance is paid up. If she dies next week and her kids find out she canceled a 10K policy and replaced it with a 4K policy, you may have a chance to get friendly with your E&O claims rep.:1eek:

What happens when YOU replace an AARP 25,000 product (or similar) with a 10,000 level whole life?

I did that almost A YEAR AGO now on a 60 y.o. and the guy (NOW) doesn't have long to live. Was perfectly healthy on the outside when I did it. Apparently he now has liver disease. :skeptical:
