How is the choice not with the consumer now? S/he chooses whether to buy insurance or pay a tax. Honestly, I think being penalized "now" instead of "if I ever get sick" is more likely to get young people to sign up for insurance, thereby reducing the cost for everyone. My guess is that after the first penalty tax, a lot more young people are going to decide to get insurance.

What part of the word 'mandate' don't you understand? Mandate means you must do something. Not having a mandate doesn't force you to do it. Pretty easy. Which still doesn't justify mandating private citizens enter into private contracts with businesses. It's a liberty thing for me.

I agree, this is a stepping stone to Medicare Part A for all. Payroll deduct it. We sell supplements from there on out.
