Rookie Title XIX Question

I do not know of a F E company that would honor a Power of Atorney for signature. (If you know of one, pls let me kow)
Also, in GA at least, the most F E you can put on a Medicaid recipient is $5,000.

Americo honors Power of Attorney

I don't think so. They might but I recently had a case where the applicant was legally blind and his daughter was his POA. I called Americo, RNA, Foresters and Monumental and they all said that, "if he can't sign it himself they would not accept".

I could very well have called back and gotten a different answer because that's just how it is but they told me no.

I would think a blind person could sign their name, make their mark. Many signatures are just scribble.

He could but his daughter had POA for all signatures and I was trying to do a CYA.

I ended up doing a company with POS interview and his daughter placed his hand on the line and helped him sign. Then I did a POA as witness with a form they sent me.

Probably could have handled it differently but I wanted everything to be on the straight and narrow.

In the past 3 months I have written 4 cases w/ Americo where the insured didn't even touch the pen and ALL 4 cases got issued without a hitch. I understand that MOST other companies don't operate this way but Americo will and do accept it this way. When u call Americo ask for TODD and he will assure u that Americo will honor POA to sign as long as u provide the proper paperwork which usually consists of between 2-5 pages from my experiences.

There are other companies like Presidential that will accept ANY attempt at a signature. If the insured was to just make a dash on the signature line then it would be acceptable, as long as it was accompanied w/ a written notice of why the signature could not be complete.

When Medicaid is a known problem Settlers is an option to consider. Their policy comes with a legal funeral trust. It is exempt from Medicaid.

When people ENTER a nursing home, don't forget the nursing home rider on many FE policies.

When a family member wants to buy a policy on someone (with or without the insured's knowledge) a funeral Preneed policy is an option. All funeral homes have an insurance agent that can write these policies. You can easily split a case with them IF you approach them with it. PLUS you can build a relationship with an agent who meets a lot of people who want life insurance and hardly any Preneed agents sell anything but Preneed plans. This is a relationship worth developing. It can be very fruitful over time.
