Settlers is Gone!

Settlers life is going out of the FE business. Just got the email.. Another one bites the dust.
I didn't get an email! I'm glad I saw these threads! I have an appointment on Tuesday who specifically asked for Settlers. I guess I'll figure it out by then!

It just occurred to me that I have another client who's due for a review. I originally wrote her a FE policy with Citizens Security, who were also acquired by NGL and shut down immediately. So when I reviewed her last time, I wrote her a Settlers policy. She gone get suspicious if I tell her that company's getting shut down, too!

Just tell her truth.. They aren't shut down, they just aren't accepting new business and her current policy will remain in force, doing the exact same thing it was designed to do.

Man I miss Citizens Security. That was the last holdout company that didn't charge more for smokers. They were high on non-smokers but unbelievably low on smokers.
That entire book of business has to be smokers paying way too low of premiums.

Was citizens security all debit business?

No. They had an FE product that independents could sell. Pretty average over all BUT no rate up for smokers. That was a huge niche. They didn't understand that no independent agent was going to put any non-smokers with them. Somehow that never occurred to them.

It is amazing how they don't consider the effect adverse selection will have on product'
