I've never bought leads for this or my prior role. Having been contacted for (HVAC, lawn maintenance services, etc.) by lead generation companies I would say it was not the most pleasant experience and I haven't done it again since. I saw this article on my LinkedIn and thought it addresses some of the major cons to buying leads. Worth a quick read.

If Financial advisor leads worked well everybody would be in that space. If a fella decides he wants to work a consistent persistent resistant weekly direct mail campaign, he should let the fireplace have his securities licenses and slip into a life/health test center.

I held off for a few years, but the last 6months I have been creating some of my own. I won't lie, GoogleAds was an expensive venture but working on the right kind of landing page and proper content has brought the conversion cost down. Facebook ads are hit and miss for me. I still purchase leads though. My FEX and Gen life leads have been coming from UsaLifeLeads.com (they're fairly cheap and consistent) and occasionally I use StrongPointDigital for their MP leads. Definitely want to move to sourcing all of my own leads though.
