Show your age by posting a gadget kids today wouldn't understand

So you are saying that they did have an alternative, and that alternative was to not play?
I could have quoted any of you but DayTimer's was the closest.

I can see both sides of the argument and all of you have valid points, but I have one one question.

If I remember correctly a bunch of 5th grade boys got their butts spanked by a bunch of 5th grade girls. My question is Just how hard was it to get those boys back on the school bus to go to school the next day? Probably a few claw marks in the drive way.

Ridiculous.

Beyond ridiculous and unfortunately this i s a real fear for parents.

A nearby district to me suspended or expelled a third grader because his mom included a small plastic picnic knife in his lunch so he could spread the cheese on his crackers.

A weapon of mass destruction, you know.

This is what is wrong with the world. We don't take real weapons seriously, so we end up punishing kids for the possession of common household objects or for behavior that was always typical human kids behavior.

I'm sure someone somewhere is trying to figure out how to place an R rating on old episodes of F Troop for violence.

And how do you feel about men competing as women in women's sports.:mad:

My 8 yr old grand daughter was sent home early and suspended for one day not too long ago. Seems a little girl broke in line and my grand daughter told her to go to the back of the line. When the little girl didn't my grand daughter said I've got a gun. All hell broke loose.

Everybody involved knew that my grand daughter didn't have a gun ... now the bowie knife strapped to her belt would have been a different story.

When I was in high school, carrying a Buck knife on your belt was a big fad. I never got one because we were just too poor. But somewhere along the way, I'd picked up a cheap replica of an old military dagger at a flea market for $1. I strapped that to my belt and wore it to school every day of my junior year. Never got in trouble for it, or even questioned about it. Can you imagine a kid doing that now?

I used to think it wasn't quite fair until those Alabama girls put a whupping on the boy's in the championship basketball game.

But, in all seriousness, I won't pretend to know what goes on in the mind and feelings of a trans individual. And I 100% do not believe that anyone should be discriminated against for who they are, how they see themselves, who they love etc.

My opinion on allowing people who were born male to compete against women who were born as women is that it should not be allowed. I think a male athlete who has transitioned to female must still compete with other males.

Again, I do not pretend to know how this would make a trans individual feel. And I don't intend any human being anywhere any harm.

I believe in the protection of civil liberties for all people, regardless of race, ethnicity, sexuality, religion, etc.

My thinking, at the moment, is that someone who was born as a male does not have a civil right to transition to female and then to use any advantage, e.g. strength or speed, that they might retain as a result of having been born a male.

For the record, one my dearest friends is a trans man, i.e. he was born female, and he has transitioned to male. I have not ever discussed any of these issues with him. He is a wonderful, bright, successful family man and he has been a great friend from the day I met him. Not one of you guys would ever know that he had been born a female, and every one of you would respect his accomplishments as a salesman and as an entrepreneur.
