Small Cold Call Victory

I totally agree with the above statement that if you speak with a prospect once the realize they need life insurance it will be easier to help them. I was thinking of going through the obituaries here locally and doing cold calling from that, just wondering if that is too creepy or low life?

I don't know if it's creepy or low life but I think you'll find it's not worth the time and effort you'll either catch them to soon and they will be pissed that you called them from the obit or it's been too long and they are no different than any other cold call. It will however take you a bunch of time to look up all of the info.

Know a fellow that did very well over the years working obituaries.. He would wait about 7 - 10 days after the funeral and start by calling the pall bearers.. He would then work his way through the survivors. Of course, he did not mention that he had gotten the name form the obituary but he claimed that the people were more aware of the need at the time of his call.

It takes a smooth operator to pull that off. Probably much more difficult in the days of DNC.

Do some door-to-door in their neighborhood, making sure to hit their house. If you don't a chance with them, maybe there will be some success at some of the other doors. Especially immediate neighbors?

Thanks! Great Idea. And with the local obits being online it's just a matter of running names against the property appraisers to verify addresses and then cross referencing that with a reverse phone directory.

Have you seen the movie Paper Moon?:D

this seems like a decent place to post this small cold call vicotry!

my 2nd cold call i come across a woman turning 65 in my city, i call her up and run my script on her....she has been on medicare for a disability and is also on medicaid. Instead of moving on I start a conversation with her about what she has experianced so far and before I get off the phone with this person (15-20min on phone) I let her know I am local and independent and willing to simply answer questions for her or her friends and family and begin to give her my contact info.......she stops me and gives me her mothers situation(85 yrs young) and even gives me her phone number. I waited 15-20 min and then called her mother who by then was expecting a call from me cause her daughter called and let her know a medicare specialist was going to call her. Booked an appt. with the mother and father of the T-65 cold call for tommorow morn!!!! Gotta love when stuff like this happens specially when they HAD med supps but went to the Commission on Aging who only shows people MAPD plans and talks them up (which after a large bill recently came they are pissed off about it)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
