So...tell Me Again About This "summit"?

The bottom line is, the cost of health care has got to go down. And, we don't want the government in charge of it. If they can accomplish that then we'll have something to be proud of hopefully. If not, they're fired. So long at the Dems want it to be run by the government, they will continue to hear NO from the Pubs.

Sounds good.

Won't work.

Not sure I follow. Utilization is a MAJOR factor in premiums, especially at renewal.

Yes, utilization is a MAJOR factor, but taxing cadillac plans won't influence utilization, except maybe upwards.

I'm always so confused on what the goal is when it comes to utilization anyway. Is the goal to get more people to use the system (i.e., cover more people) or is the goal to insure people but not allow them to use it? So confusing....

That's an easy one Dan. The goal is to get re-elected by pandering more than the other candidate(s).

"Cadillac" plans with $10 copays and low deductibles have more utilization than HDHP's.

When it only costs $10 to see the doc, another $10 for the Rx, (some) people will go at the drop of a hat.

Kind of like an all you can eat buffet.

Who frequents those kind of places? Certainly you won't find any anorexic's there. And you won't find any clean plates either. Always something left over on the plate, usually enough for a full meal for most folks.

Cadillac plans are the same way. LOT's of utilization which drives up claims and in turn drives up premiums.

In the "new" plan that taxes the Cadillac plans, are unions again exempt? THAT should be question #1 the Republicans ask during the summit.

The White House has threatened to ram through health reform by abusing the budget reconciliation process. That would mean a new chapter on corruption for the history books. But the history books printed today would skip that.
