Starting a Position with Securus FE

... In better news, things are moving forward with EFES. I just received writing numbers for Foresters, RNA, and Americo. I am starting out at a 90% contract level and am paying $21.00 a lead. I have just sent payment information and they will be dropping mail for me here very soon. I put down near $1000 for my first lead order as I want to come out firing and putting up big numbers. I have decided that my only path to retribution is simply being successful. I hope that I work hard enough so that one day those who I dealt with in Securus will hear about me and realize they made a mistake in how they treated a new agent. I could ask for nothing more than this...

We started about the same time with EFES. I have not gotten my RNA # yet, but can't wait to get it because that is when I can go out on my ride along training.

Best of luck to you and don't let that negativity weigh on you. Securus is no longer worth it.

My experience is the big IMOs don't bother mentioning it.

More of an issue with newbies than with experienced pros.

Plus, verbal confirmation (as we've discovered) ain't sh*t unless it's on paper.

Funny, as there's nothing in writing saying anything about a "6-month waiting period" anyway...

you right about that...But most of the are upfront and tell you about the 6 month waiting period...If you won't release somebody, atleast be honest with them...No point in lying to an agent about something like that

I'll say I'm not that big of an IMO, but I grow each and everyday. I will ALWAYS give releases.

I've built up to what I am with the agent in mind. I was an agent in the field and will never forget who is actually in the trenches out there.

I have had agents to ask for a release and then find out the grass wasn't really greener on the other side and wanted to come back to me. Do you really think they would have come back to me if I refused to give them a release?

You sound fair but here's a question: If an agent wrote $10k his 1st month contracted directly under you, all advanced, and then quit, would you give him a release right away or would you wait 6 months or longer then grant the release? (So advances would have been paid back by biz on the books).

The advances are going to transfer to the new agency that takes the agent, should have nothing to do with granting a release, however some use this as an excuse to hold someone up.

Thanks for the answer. Why would an agency ever want to inherit potential advance debt without ever having receiving any over-write from that debt? Looks like they will inherit potential advance debt just to have someone write biz?? Sounds like a very bad business decision.

The way you describe it the 1st mgr. should be happy to transfer away that potential advance debt since he/she already received the over-writes and would now enjoy having no potential advance debt at all.

You only inherit Advance debt with a few Carriers....Americo comes to mind right now. The new IMO must sign off on this even after 6 months.

Foresters and Monumental do not and track this with a separate Agent ID.

Foresters, in fact, has gotten tired of agent transfers and instituted a 3 and done rule. No more Upline transfers if you have had 3 IMO's previously.

But I digress......Todd is correct. If you have an open policy of giving transfers on request as TwiLight also does. We actually have very few requests for it.

Being upfront and honorable without burning bridges is still a fair and amicable way of doing business as an IMO.

To answer Greg's question, yes, I would grant the release.

Twilight...actually, Monumental does make the new upline sign a statement accepting all debts. The problem is though, the new upline doesn't get the overrides on existing business.

With that being said, I'm pretty sure you would be inclined to argue that point. Guess what, you too would be right. Monumental doesn't always do this, but for the most part they do. I've had to sign quite a few of those forms.

I have never had to do it with Monumental. I do have a different distribution channel with them than you do though. Formally a Stonebridge IMO now Transamerica with MonLife product line.

We also do not get overrides on existing business.

That would be the reason why!

I'll never understand the two different ways that Monumental does things. Through your channel, they have a completely different way of doing things. Like our channel, there's the good and the bad ways, I suppose.
