Starting a Position with Securus FE

Now you are on the right track and take this experience as a valuable lesson learned - because we all have a similar story to tell. There are some very helpful people on the forum, so now you have an expanded network of support.

Good luck and keep up the good work ethic- in insurance sales it's just a matter of numbers.

Thomas,

The way I was treated by ***** is only reparable by another upline. I do not trust this man anymore and up until this this point I have defended Securus as much as possible on the insurance forums. Unfortunately, I am going to have to be straight up and honest with those who have been following my time with Securus. If I am not going to be transferred to an upline that will treat me like a decent human being, provide me with the training and support I need, not talk down on me, and poke fun at my accomplishments and my ambitions, then I must find a company that provides the necessary support to their agents. If that is the final decision, I can no longer continue in this line.

Thomas' hands are most likely tied. For them to transfer you without a release from your current upline would probably be a breach of contract with your upline.

If we keep doing the wrong things often enough, we'll be successful? If I work on the golf range for hours on end, beating balls with a poor swing, I'll become a great player?

Sorry, but this philosophy is part of the reason that the failure rate in this business is 95%.

I don't do FE, but I've seen more than one big producing FE agent on here explaining that they don't cold call, and they don't door knock. Yet the landscape is littered with agents (probably broke) that think if they just knock on enough doors, or they just make enough cold calls, it will make them successful. They are part of the 95%.

Quantity alone is not enough. It takes quantity of quality.

I am with you whole heartedly on this one. This is one of the prime reasons why I am moving to EFES under Travis where I can get the proper training and support. I truly have a desire to help my potential clients and it feels damn good when these people literally thank you and want to hug you before you leave. The guy I sold today had a terrible plan in place and I showed him what I was able to do and he simply and rightly said "holy ****." What is amazing is that these people are so grateful that I have come to visit them so really, although I am making a good paycheck for my self, the service I provide to them is something they consider priceless and helps them more than I could imagine. The other guy who I was inquiring about on the forums who had type 2 with amputations, heart valve problems, coronary artery bypass, and some other issues all around 5 years ago, well I spoke with his wife for a good two hours just answering her questions and chatting casually with her. She knew how much work I had put into their case and she was so grateful that I was able to come up with something that was going to provide them immediate coverage because it had been near impossible for them to get anything at all in the past. I haven't closed that one yet because the guy was actually asleep when I showed up and he has trouble sleeping so I just told her not to wake him and that I would be back. Basically what I'm trying to say is, I think my swing will be pretty good here soon but even if its not, even if I'm a terrible salesman, I truly believe that as long as I am sincere, honest, and straight forward with those I meet, I will be absolutely fine in this business... and thinking about that again, maybe this is REALLY what the swing is all about

M&M, yes it does take both. I've known a lot of agents good a collecting their eggs for their basket and none hatched. The problem with new agents is training and having enough numbers up front until you figure out what works for you. Later, about 18 months later they hit a lag because they forget about the numbers that feed into sales. Those numbers are different for everyone.

+1

Immediate coverage??? I guess I missed that thread.

Interesting anecdote. If they're that "grateful" for immediate coverage, they will wake the guy up to sign. What if the guy dies tonight? Think it never happens?

In this business, you eat what you kill. You may need to work on developing a killer instinct.

Worse yet- the agent doesn't make it home. If they think you can come back - then you lose the advantage of immediacy. Money doesn't buy life insurance your health today does.

Did you mention to Larry and Tom, you started a positive, post on this forum, about starting with securus. And you have a 10 page following. Their reputation is on the line. They were reading this forum. Go thru the past posts, i think Larry said he would help agents from the forum. When he first came on the forum, he was beat up, but I and others like JD stuck up for them. We gave them all due respect. Tell Larry and Tom, the forum is waiting to see how he handles this minor problem. I would request from larry to be transfered to tims group. JD is always stressing to get with the right group, with any IMO. Each group is not created equal.

Well, Ive written some policies with AmAm through Securus and I found out through AmAm that Im getting paid on a monthly basis per a document signed on July 29th by some guys in Securus (before I was even having issues with my upline), so no advance unfortunately even though I signed a contract saying I would be given this advance, is this acceptable? AmAm directed me to a guy named Lee Morris who I have never spoken with until now. I talked with Lee on the phone, let me tell you, if you asked Lee, he is God's gift to the earth. The guy just seemed like Lumbergh from Office Space... Lots of sighing and long pauses of irritation and just an overall attitude that he's pissed he has to deal with these "nothing" newbs such as my self... It sucks that I have had so many bad experiences with Securus because I really think that there are parts of the company that are worth exploring. To sum up the conversation, Lee gloated about his team, saying they are in the top 1/10th of the top 1% of the entire industry going as far as claiming his brother produces TWICE as much as Tim Winders as he sloughed the idea of him off in a very demeaning way in spite of Tim allegedly being a fellow agent and colleague in the same company (could this be true? I told him I wasn't refuting him because I didn't really know, and of course he used that statement to his advantage basically saying I don't know anything and I am listening to a bunch of guys on the forums :D ), he told me he would not back someone who comes into a company and threatens his upline. I mentioned to him that I was put on a monthly basis even before me and Gary had issues and he just said "Oh, well I could have backdated that... I can backdate ANYTHING I want" he said my upline Gary Needelman is a really good and solid guy and the hardest working guy he knows, he essentially called me a liar in regards to Gary's availability and the manner in which I was treated by him... He also accused me of emailing several people who I never have even emailed saying that he read the emails I sent them, in spite of the fact that he fabricated that evidence. I told him everything in a reasonable calm professional manner and I never once got upset with him or made demands at the guy or questioned his credibility or attempted to refute any of his statements.. I was totally non confrontational and just saying things on a factual basis and still the guy raised his voice to me and spoke to me constantly in a sarcastic and demeaning way "Yeaaaaahhhh, Yeaaaaahhhh, okaaaaaaaaay, I believe that, Riiiiiiiight"... I have never felt so disrespected in my life to be honest

I am rereading this and its almost as if there is some level of exaggeration in my words... To be honest, I think the words I wrote have actually portrayed him in a better light than if I had gone into exact detail. I need to start recording my conversations with them because this stuff is damn near unbelievable... I do not understand how a business man or a professional insurance agent could handle a conversation in such a way.

In better news, things are moving forward with EFES. I just received writing numbers for Foresters, RNA, and Americo. I am starting out at a 90% contract level and am paying $21.00 a lead. I have just sent payment information and they will be dropping mail for me here very soon. I put down near $1000 for my first lead order as I want to come out firing and putting up big numbers. I have decided that my only path to retribution is simply being successful. I hope that I work hard enough so that one day those who I dealt with in Securus will hear about me and realize they made a mistake in how they treated a new agent. I could ask for nothing more than this...

OH, I forgot to mention... I have still been working my Securus leads and I have noticed that a few of the people I have been getting on contact with have been saying something about Walmart Gift cards being promised to them in a second letter being sent to them about insurance and about their options... they are telling me it is from the same company that they received the first letter from.. is it possible that Securus is trying to cut me out of my own leads?
