Starting a Position with Securus FE

talk about biting the hand that feed you!

Hey Tod, youve been in this business for quite some time. Tell me, how many new agents do you sign up that talk a good game and never produce much of anything. Do 20% of your agents actually make you money? Do you lose money on many agents who write a deal or two, then quit and the polices lapse?

I am asking because I do not know,

Yeah, about 20% actually produce. I don't have a problem with the chargebacks rolling up to me that much, but some do roll up.

I have talked to two IMOs/GAs in the past couple months.. One on the forum.. Told them both, "I'll never be one of your big hitters because I have other things I want to do in addition to the fact I am an old guy".. One decided not to pursue contracting me but the other one did. I am OK with both decisions..

I have never understood why agents feel they have to blow a lot of smoke when they know they aren't going to walk their talk. You are who you are and you might as well be upfront with people because they are going to learn the truth sooner or later.

Three cheers for old farts. :)

I get out produced by agents 3x my age since I started this business. I am 39 and still can't seem to keep with those 65+ crowd...must be something in there veins? :skeptical:

I think most agents fail because of, the lack of good trainning? It is easy to fall behind, I am sure I lost more money, from the lack of trainning, than what I have made. When you first start out you are timid, and unsure of yourself. When the agent gives a lot of bravado, it just means he is trying to convince himself, how good he is. Read those recruiting ads. Make 100k, working 2-3 days a week. The rejection gets to you after a while. I have been selling part time. and making part time money. lol.. I will have a good week then, 0. Then you lick your wounds, and start again.

I make Todd 500k in AP every year right Todd!

Well, you're not quite there yet, but who knows what the future holds, right? ;)

I get calls on a daily basis with agents telling me how much they are "going to do". When I first started contracting agents, I actually bought that. It didn't take me long to figure out it was all smoke. So, I've gotten to where I believe nothing I hear and then I wait and see. Some that I thought really would produce don't do squat. Some I thought wouldn't, have stepped up and been really consistant.

The ones that tell me right off the bat not to expect too much from them? Well, that one I'll buy!
