How is Progressive allowed to do this? Health companies cant undercut agents...

Different companies. One Progressive for agents, one for direct.

the reason she is looking for insurance, is because of that claim, her state farm policy will go up. or they maybe cancelling her. believe 20% of what people tell you. if you write progressive, most of your clients are going to have bad driving records. i hope you gave her the quote. she will buy from you.

My CSR's advise people who've gotten a lower rate online to go ahead and get it...and then ask progressive to transfer them to our agency. We get a reduced commission but I'm sure Progressive never anticipated agents doing this and besides...I get a kick out of "giving it" to Progressive a little

Can I ask what the reduction in commission is, we rarely use them in the first place because the commissions are lower than everyone else to start with.

it doesn't work. Tried it a few times. Progressive direct writes through a different company than agents and they won't appoint an agent under that company...atleast in Florida.

i really don't care as much about the 8% as i do taking a piece of biz from progressive direct...my competitor

Progressive is pretty much anti agents. I write them only if I have to. They reallly just advertise a lot. Unless someone has a bad record they are not the most competitve for package business. You should seek out more carriers.

i do but right now even the nonstandard cariers have put a 3-6 month hold on new appointments, any recommendations would be helpful
