State Farm Vs Progressive

I write Progressive in many states as well as Travelers, Safeco and Metlife. I find Progressive comes up quite a bit cheaper on auto if the person's credit is less than stellar. If the person has good credit, clean driving record, etc... the other carriers fall over themselves trying to get that customer and their rates are much lower.

With the economy, credit scores are lower and I'm selling more Progressive that the others at this time.

So, the additional cost is the markup for the insurance? $90.00 a month for both vehicles for full coverage is unheard of. This client must be a long time client for a monthly premium this low.

New to the forum I have no ground here to state this except that I have been around. Mny of you could not be more wrong.

Today insurance is more geographical than ever. Zip codes in particular. With the actuary information we have today rates change with these territories, zip codes, counties, etc. Within the next two years that will all change. Rates vary quite a bit. Anyone that has worked insurance in more than one town will tell you this.

Service from the company depends on the adjuster in the area and your direct repair shop(s). While you bash a company in one area they are getting applause in another. Whether it's rates or service, it all depends on your area. Great in one, horrible in another.

Progressive direct tends to be a little more preferred than the Progressive product that us independents sell. So sometimes we are more competitive and sometimes Progressive direct is. When comparing to other carriers like State Farm just be sure you are comparing apples to apples when it comes to coverage. We have taken plenty of business from State Farm using Progressive.

This depends on the state. I find here in UT that Progressive Non standard direct always comes in cheaper than me trying to quote. As for State Farm, I cant stand them, so driven on financial products these days I would not be suprised if they deserted P&C and went all banking and investments...:goofy:

financial services and bank is just the icing on the cake for the newbies/high achievers -95% of most agents income still from p/c.

Not for the guys jumping on board currently. The commissions for P&C have been cut and all the commissions are favoring investments with them. My father in law almost signed with them recently in Utah and backed out becasue he saw his contract vs. a contract from 5 years ago...

The last 2 days i had 2 clients from state farm saying they're paying $90 a month on their vehicles for full coverage.
When i quoted them with progressive i came very expensive like $140 a month. What's funny is when i quoted them on progresive's website they came cheaper than statefarm at $85.
I called progressive about this and they said i should run a pos before i give them a price cause it will update the information, i did and it came more expensive as she had a no hit claim.
What are your thoughts on this? i think i should get more markets i'm very dissapointed with progressive right now.

Im with state farm and we have been smoking progressive on every quote. Part of the reason is the discounts we offer which many dont realize if they just go online. The key to writing them is having them come in

State farm bread and butter will always be auto and will always strive to be number 1 as it is now. They are pushing financial services to grow and meet the whole needs of the client
