Switching Policies After Trading Vehicles. Please Help !

Well it was my fault for not checking to make sure the switch was made but after a seriously scary couple of days they did find the call log where I made the switch.

By the absolute grace of God, prayer, and some luck everything is fine and covered completely. Man I dont believe I have ever had something scare me this bad in my life.

Lesson learned here thats for sure.

Thank you guys for all the helpful suggestions though I really really appreciate it. Just knowing that there were people thinking about this and trying to help out on here was a great comfort during the wait.

Glad it has worked out for you! Glad the insurance company came through. However, you may want to rethink this agent. I don't know if he is on the ball.

I've had clients do this a few times. They'll call up several times to get quotes on different vehicles, but then neglect to call me back when they make an actual purchase. Usually how it gets discovered is that the bank sends a nastygram saying they need proof of insurance or they will force place it. I've been fortunate that it's never been because they got in an collision.

Clients do need to take some responsibility for their own insurance. If you call to add a vehicle and you don't get any sort of confirmation in the mail (you should at least get an ID card, change in billing or something) then call again to check. You're required to carry proof of insurance in your vehicle, so if you don't have it, GET IT!

Sorry for the rant, this is just a pet peeve of mine.

I'm glad the original poster got their situation taken care of. Most of the time, if you've been a customer for a while and something like this happens the company will help you out.

I'm glad this worked out. I figured it would, but there is usually another part of the story that gets neglected. On top of that, some carriers are sticklers, but most will actually do the right thing.
