Has anybody tried TV advertising? If so, what were your results.

I was thinking of giving it a shot.

If I commit to spending $5000 a year, I can have a 30 second and 15 second spot produced for free.

Ad costs would run from $6 per spot to $500 depending on the show, time of day, and duration of ad.

I was thinking of doing shows in the $25 per ad range, and rotating ads between the 15 sec and 30 sec ad.

I could get almost 275 commercial spots using this format. With a demographic reach of 465,000 homes, using the stations frequency distribution reports, I could reach an audience of 103,252, 15 times.

I'm on a pace to spend $18,000 buying shared leads this year, which would buy me about 2500 leads.

These same 2500 leads all live within my viewing radius. My thinking was perhaps I could find a way to reach these same 2500 people and thousands more, and suggest them into either calling or visiting my web site for free quotes.

30 second ads would feature health & life products. 15 seconds ads would feature health only.

Package also includes free leaderboard and banner ad rotations on their web site.

My break even is 15 policies give or take. No Coupons

Both segments. That is the age range of a large percentage of my leads.

I have some shows in mind, but will talk to 100 or so people in my target market to see what they see.

I was thinking 9am to 11am, and 7pm to 9pm.

Our local Fox Affiliate.

TV ads, like print ads, work with repetition.

Think the duck, all the AARP ads, the life insurance pushed by Alex Trebek . . .

Running the same commercial over and over. Common theme. Lot's of money.

In your local market you probably see lot's of auto insurance ads . . . because it works.

I don't recall seeing any local agencies pushing health insurance or life insurance. I do see carriers like BX and KP, but not agencies.

If you have $5k to throw away, fine. Not sure I would do it.

I had been thinking of doing the same thing NewGuy...let me know what you think so far...

We don't target health insurance but I pay for it every month and I can't remember a renewal that didn't go up at least 10% in the past five years. Sure seems like a great time to market health insurance. 5grand ? Seems like a pretty fair price to access that many potential clients.

Good luck

The only companies that do TV advertising in our market is are companies like AFLAC. The only local companies are P&C companies. My quess is that the reason we do not see health insurance ads is that it is not effective. I agree with Somarco. If you have $5k to throw away, fine. Not sure I would do it.

XRAC! How could you miss the daily ads by Lincoln Heritage for "the Heritage Plan" It runs every day on the Judge Judy Show.

I've often wondered if I started running adds on Judge Judy the said "Are you paying too much for a final expense plan you recently purchased?"

DVR campaigns are tricky. It is very important that you work with an experienced firm. My experience has been that spots that are 15 to 30 seconds long, have a much less response rate than a 60 second commercial.

In addition, you have to think about how you are going to handle the inbound calls and enroll the prospects.

Lastly, what is the quality of the commercial? It is difficult to produce a quality commercial on a $5,000 budget. We have produced a couple of commercials for broker partners that include actors, rather than still shots. These commercials are posted on our website. Good luck.

If I can assist you any further please feel free to email me directly.
