"Stealing candy from a baby" doesn't even come close to describing how easy it is to steal clients from Nationwide. Maybe their rates are just terrible in Virginia, but man, I love hearing that is who the prospect I am working on has as their commercial insurance carrier.

I have also found that asking the prospect what their agent does when he/she comes out to visit their business, because I know they never do,EVER!!!!

Are you beating them with ERIE? I've come across Travelers so far beat them with Hartford but I'm signing on with ERIE June 14th so they will be getting most of the business after that.

I know that Nationwide is horrible on personal lines too in my area those agents must do a great job "selling the value" as the captives teach so nicely ha.

YES, Erie will smoke Nationwide everytime.... Price will never be an issue when comparing Erie and Nationwide. Disclaimer: I only do commercial.. You will have issues,like the incumbent agent, but it won't be price

I think the biggest advantage is the fact that Nationwide agents, the veterans that is, have gotten lazy and complacent and stay in their office all day watching their accounts disappearing to independent agents.

YOU WILL LOVE ERIE!!!! They are a bit picky, but they will work with you to get an account. They will give you the credits to make it happen in this market.

We just contracted with Philadelphia as well, so I am anxious to see how they are too. We are meeting with the rep.on Tuesday to run some cases by him that Erie wouldn't take.

You will like Philadelphia but they are for office risks I use them for my accountants, IT consultants, etc. You can package the professional liablity and GL coverage and it's a good price. They don't do retail stores, contractors, etc. their main competition is Chubb for the white collar risks.

Thay gave me a list of their niche markets and it appears they are good for outfitters, camping, etc. and I live in an area where there are tons of those. May be cool to try them...

But I was taught the dumpster driving and posting signs on the power poles was the best marketing methods.
