Thank You Card Thoughts!!

i haven't looked at the pricing for soc but at first i think i'll just send handwritten cards first few months...hopefully it'll get to be hassle from selling so many policies :) (positive thinking!) then i can go with pay plan like soc

Send Out Cards is nice, but you can do the same on your own for far less.

Find yourself a nice handwriting font (several come with the Mac) and go out an buy some plain note cards like these.

Create a simple card with mail-merge fields.

Put the name/addresses in the spreadsheet that will serve as your "data base" (even if only one or two) and print them out. Same for the envelopes.

I do this once a week.... enclose my card... and you'd be surprise at how many people will save the card and call you back later... sometimes a month, sometimes two years! (I think a magnetic "refrigerator" biz card would be better but it would probably double the postage.)

If you do it "right" it will look great. See PDF attached.

That is a nice font. I used to do it that way but it is time consuming switching paper back and forth in the printer and printing onesy-twosey cards.

I like the convenience of SOC but no system is perfect.

I got the idea from some video someone posted about persistency....but what do you guys think? If all goes according to plan, my 1st thank you will be going out next week...

Here's the video mentioned above... Sorry it was a little corny, but the agent I learned this from absolutely swears by its effectiveness with FE cases, so I wanted to share it with my people.. hence, the video.

Here's the info on Send Out Cards: Automatic Referrals for Insurance Agents

For the last four years, I've found it much better to have a card campaign launched automatically with my new clients, rather than remembering to send a Thank You card immediately, then follow up cards on a specific schedule over the next year, including their birthdays.

The referral cards are part of that campaign and are highly effective and, again, sent automatically at a specified time in the relationship. With Medicare Supplement sales, this has paid for itself over, over, and over again.

I can't tell you how many times I've heard positive reactions over the years to the cards. It has completely separated me from other agents that these folks have dealt with. The persistency, new clients, and positive on-going relationships it has fostered over the years has made it an integral part of my business.

In my opinion, send out cards might be OK, but they're not ideal. They will send you a sample and I was not impressed by the sample. You can definitely tell it's printed. Unless they can alternate randomly between different letters you write, it's pretty obvious. It might be a personal hang-up, but when I see stuff trying to 'trick' me in to thinking it's handwritten, I feel tricked.

JMHO of course. I mean, how long does it really take to write a short note to someone?

Do they sell the cards in lots of 25, 50 or 100 Not filled in? They have some very creative eye catching cards. Like Brik03 I prefer to hand sign them. I have someone to do it for me so it is not an issue of time.
