Outsourcing Insurance Lead Generation

Have you considered outsourcing insurance lead generation? There are companies who specialized in insurance lead generation, do you think it is worth it? How much do you general pay for it?

Follow Ups

I always believe in the power of follow up. I would make sure to give every prospect a follow up in order to give them a feeling of importance. I note down every prospect's issues or concerns and get back to them with solutions maybe of what they are looking for.

How do you do your follow ups?

No doesn't always mean NO! Example: I walk into The Men's Warehouse to buy some ties. A sales assoc. approaches me and asks if they can help me. My REFLEXIVE answer is to say "no thanks, I'm just looking". In reality I am a serious buyer, that's the only reason I'm there, I'm not just looking, I hate shopping. 10 min. later I'm asking the sales associate to ring up the sale. Not the best ex. but you get the idea.

Sometime when people say I'm checking around with different co.'s, I need to think about it, etc. they will let you write them up if you GENTLY press forward.

Really true, it is sometimes difficult to start a good conversation and offer your services to a person who would rather want to seek information or products by himself. It would also need some powerful strategy to make the person interested in what you are offering, some line that would work well in starting a conversation.

Amber,

Not sure what you mean by that statement. Offering solutions without finding out their main concerns, finding out they want to fix them, and are able to do so, is setting yourself up to work too hard in this business. If someone doesn't want to do business now, move on. You can touch base down the road, but don't get caught up in it.

Out of curiousity, what are you selling? Who are you calling on? How has it been going so far?

Re: Outsourcing Insurance Lead Generation

I know with some companies my coworkers have used it can run about 400 bucks for 1000 mailers and 80 bucks for a set appointment. Is it worth it? Not sure, they paid 1000 dollars and have 9k in commissions in the pipeline, so it is but you have to work them like anything else.

You search this forum and would find a lot of lead generation sources and agents are using them. Even those companies selling useless internet leads to multiple agents per piece are still in business. You figure!

Re: Follow Ups

Following up with prospects is a great way to keep your name in front of your prospect. I typically contact prospects and question them on their current coverage and how happy they are with it. For instance, I sell Mrs. Jones a WL but she has a med supp with ABC Insurance Company. I'll contact her down the road and ask how her and her family are and make sure that she is still happy with her service, rate, etc. If her agent with that company is lacking, it sometimes leads to something positive. But I don't spend a large amount of time on this each week. If they are not ready to do business, or happy where they are, you never want to push them to the point where you ruin that lead. Move on, they have your info, know who you are and if they have an issue, you're the first person on their mind hopefully...

Re: Follow Ups

I have been rather sub-par with my follow-up over the years. I'm not happy about but I guess I tend to focus on new business too much.

When I'm retired, maybe I'll finally call some of them and say hello.
