The Current State Of ObamaCare - ACA

New kid on the block here in NY, Health Republic, the only CO-OP, expected to get 30k cases the first year. Rates were low, network was decent, ended up with almost double that the first month and pushing 200k the first year.

The price sensitivity dynamic in this new marketplace is crazy. We're going to see more and more business funneled into the lowest bidder.

How long will they remain the low priced leader once the taxpayer supports are withdrawn?

Only time will tell. Having spoken with their higher ups, the company has more than ample reserves and is easily covering claims with premium. From what I've seen, and from the way the company is being run, I think they'll be well positioned on price for quite a while.

They look even better when you compare them to the competitors. Even if they raise prices, I'd bet the other carriers need to go even higher.

Despite the CMS letters urging them to do so, 51% of those who purchased a 2014 policy don't plan to re-visit the Marketplace when 2015 Open Enrollment commences. Here's the latest survey that attempts to explain the reasons why, along with other feedback from Marketplace enrollees.

Since this survey was taken before most 2015 "premium adjustment" letters have been sent to purchasers, some category sentiments (i.e. Are you satisfied?) will likely be far different by Thanksgiving.

Are we paid commission on the subsidized premium amount or the total premium amount for ACA Plans?

Why would you engage in a business where you don't understand the compensation structure?

It's on the full premium, by the way, how could it be anything else?
