The Current State Of ObamaCare - ACA

Those of us who have sold insurance for more than a year

You have been selling insurance for more than a year?

Well now it is too expensive so my family is now in the uninsured column

Maybe Ratt can find you a deal. You may have to buy a malt liquor and a pack of Kools when you go to his office, but might find that affordable health plan PresBO promised. You know, the one that is less than your cell phone bill.

Yeah only if my cell bill is 1200 dollars a month

No Sir, 13 million ACA plans On and Off Exchange. That number doesn't include all the STM policies sold which is a lot or Medicaid.

So now the argument is the numbers....what will you say when it becomes undisputed fact? What next? If you and the other haters in the forum can't set aside silly political ideology to go out and make some money for yourselves and your families you guys have problems that no Congress can solve.

Let me set the record straight I didn't vote either time for Obama and yes I did go vote. I didn't like the way this whole thing was done...not one bit. Surprised me to death that Chief Justice Roberts upheld it. But hey guys its all over now it is the law and I'm not going to sit around pi$ and moaning about it. I'm going to Ratt N' Freakin Roll with this beast. Don't beat me to death for doing what is right for myself and my family. Peace Out.
I don't think anyone here that is pointing out your blind partisan ideology stayed out...I nearly tripled my book with it. I'm a capitalist. That doesn't mean I fall lock-step behind Obama to do it. 8 million on exchange isn't fact. 13 million combined isn't fact. This law is going to look very different over the next five years. Bet on it.

I will also repeat this one more time...it isn't how many did sign up, it's how many are on at the end of the year and when they fell off.

Sure it's less than your cell phone bill if you have an Obamaphone.....your coverage is free to you...and thousands to the rest of us.

Ann spoke out of turn. I started selling IFP and small group in 1997 left that biz in 2001 to go to Medicare. Now lets talk about why I left. The freakin premiums were going out of sight and I was not going to sell the limited benefit crappy plans. Imagine that! Even I can't Ratt N' Roll like that!

----------

First off its 17 years. Don't you have to know something before you can educate someone?;)

So, you began 17 years ago in 1997, started with IFP and small group for 4 years until 2001, then moved to Medicare because (in your own words), ""The freakin premiums were going out of sight and I was not going to sell the limited benefit crappy plans. Imagine that! Even I can't Ratt N' Roll like that!"

Will you last in your new ACA market when "the freakin premiums are going out of sight and the options are crappy?"

I understand your ecstatic joy over your new sales. We all made extra money in OEP, too, but the extra income doesn't dilute our concerns for our clients and the nation. The posters you are arguing with have 15-38 years of experience IN THE SAME MARKET, helping the same clients through rising premiums, HIPAA, state reform, shrinking carrier options, and now ACA. The reason we are discussing these issues is TO HELP OUR CLIENTS. There's a section for political debate, and another section for fighting. This section is for serious agents, helping clients through difficult choices.

I don't want to fight with you, Hou. I don't want to offend you, nor lose your friendship. But I'm asking you to get serious. If you want political debate and fun and games, go to the political section.

Or else, on this section, share your insights and your viewpoints in ways that help every agent see emerging issues so we can help our clients. We all WANT notification of emerging issues, including ways ACA is working (whether temporarily or not). That helps us pivot and maneuver towards better options. But we are not talking about silly far-left or far-right reports that we all know are not representative of the situation on the ground. Nor are we talking about fiery debates just for the fun of arguing.

Now it all makes sense. You love this because you are making money selling it.

I sell a lot of Medicare plans, both MA and supplements. However I am completely opposed to the Medicare program. I won't tell people how wonderful it when it's losing money every year.

If you made 1% commission on this pig, would you still be squealing about how wonderful it is?

Ann, let me decipher this for you:

'I started in IFP in 1997 and switched to Medicare in 2001'

This means he couldn't make a living in IFP and Small Group, so switched to something easier-I'm sure he's great at convincing people with little or no money to spend $50-100 a month on a whole life policy where the cost of the premium will equal the insurance value in less than 10 years.

By his own admission he did about 40 applications during OEP, he isn't exactly a heavy hitter (or a hitter at all). And we both know you can't 'feed your family' on the compensation from 40 apps either, it's tough enough feeding oneself with 100 apps.

I have no clue what 'Ratt n Roll' means or how it relates to health insurance, maybe it has more meaning in the Medicare or Final Expense business.

I'm a lifelong Democrat who didn't vote for Obama because of this bill and go out every day to help my clients do the best they can under the law. You are 100% right, politics has no place on this forum.

Agents that can not sell themselves or the services they offer, sell price. When they can not sell price they move to another product.

Most of us on this forum are relied upon by our clients for advice and consultation to help them manage the increase in cost.

One of the real problems in the agent community is that there are too many agents that sell on price and are looking out for there own interest first rather than putting the clients interest first. All of the carriers know this and treat us like crap because of this.

If you are not in this business to help people solve problems than you should probably do something else for a living.

Back at you with the Medi Medi's 1%.:)

How many agents that started in 97 are still around today?
