This California Law Is Ripping Away American Dreams. The Left Wants to Take It Nationwide

Always go with the option that preserves maximum liberty. (The only way to achieve total liberty is to own nothing and want nothing. We'll get there.)
What happens if your neighbor's liberties involve burning tires in their back yard every weekend? Unfortunately, society requires a degree of conformity in the form of regulations and laws. That's what sets us apart from the animal kingdom.

True. The more/bigger the a holes among us, the more rules we'll need to address them. As it applies to business, there's no better way to address it than to dry up their funds. Yet, I keep going to Harbor Freight, and shopping on Amazon. How about you?

This is not the first time CA has done this. It is a deed that is done by small business to stay afloat due to the rampant regulation and pressure put on Small Business in CA for the liberal left Social Causes. Give away the stores and make the small trucking company, rich plumber and the caterers living in mansions to pay through the nose for their social programs.

In the 1990's, CA Worker's comp costs went rampant with everyone making a work comp claim and the left passing bill after bill to allow it with no worker responsibility or right to second medical opinions for employers. just pay pay pay.

Well in 1990, a clerical person in a business employing office workers were paying on average 2.5% to 3.0% of wages with no cap for work comp. The national average at the time was 0.30% CA Business were paying 8 to 10 times more than their neighboring States.

This sparked the recall of the Governor to elect Arnold as the Governator. He reformed the State regulations and put some protections from fraud back into the system and within a couple years rates for clerical dropped back to the 1.3% range..... But more reforms is counterproductive to the liberal agenda and a liberal was back in charge after Arnold and started unravel everything that was done and soon after rates went back up and higher.

For a small business to survive, they must use independent contractors to reduce cost...$15 minimum wage, high insurance costs, high medical costs. Soon the $25 minimum wage act will be a thing if only to pay the high cost of medical insurance, either privately or though the likely 30% tax split by employer/employee for a single payer system. Of course make the employer pay for the bulk of the tax, which causes price increases and inflation. Soon the $10 Big Mac and $8 Coke is put on the poor. So this liberal BS actually stix it to the most needy of society. God loves America...LOL

Welcome the use CA Socialist Republic of I need my State bailed out by Washington DC.

Uber and Lyft drivers are employees, rules California judge

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) – A judge on Monday ordered ride-hailing giants Uber and Lyft to treat their California drivers as employees instead of independent contractors, a shift that would guarantee benefits like overtime, sick leave and expense reimbursement for workers who make up much of the freewheeling gig economy.

But the ruling from San Francisco Superior Court Judge Ethan P. Schulman won't take effect right away as both Uber and Lyft said Monday they will immediately appeal to a higher court, which could put the ruling on hold as the case continues.

“Our elected leaders should be focused on creating work, not trying to shut down an entire industry during an economic depression,” Uber spokesperson Davis White said.

I don't understand how someone who works when they want to work can be considered an employee, nor do I understand why the state unemployment system would be concerned since they should not be able to file unemployment claims as an independent worker. An employee is scheduled to work certain hours for a certain wage. I don't consider sitting at the airport waiting for the phone to ring as working hours since the company would have no control over moving the UBER driver to a different location or telling the person to continue their shift because of a lack of available drivers

how someone who works when they want to work can be considered an employee,
While they may work when they want to work, being unavailable when needed can affect your seniority in the pecking order, which affects future income.

Yep, they'll treat them like employees and can their rears! If they don't, they will be paying for more than unemployment before long.

Drivers will unionize then "katy bar the door"

Another good thing ruined by those just trying to help out... which is code for "from your pocket to mine".
